The Oracle's Match Review

The Coodabeens are fantastic.

Greg Champion's songs are so funny and witty as Rhino pointed out because they are so true.

The more that people complain, the more songs that they will write.

Plus, they know a thing or two about football.

Quite right. They are a football institution..People should not take "the snow jokes" so seriously..Its not as though he does not bag other sides...

I cant for the life of me see why people see in or listen to Rex Hunt.

One of the most self centred, self focussed, hypocritical and dishonest windbags in the media.

I enjoy 3AW's coverage and I'm not sure where you're going with this comment, particularly the "hypocritical and dishonest" part of it. Being self centred and self focussed is far more prevalent on MMM from my listening experience.

I don't find GC's songs offensive, just dull, so I don't listen. Also is the reason I don't listen to the ABC's commentary if I can avoid it. Maybe they need to draft in Michael Holding from their cricket team to give it some life...

Its your choice whether you enjoy 3AW or not.

My comments about Rex is that he has made a number of public statements condemning people for certain behaviours which he has been most guilty of and his dishonesty has been to the public embarrassment and humilitation of his wife and family.

The problem with Rex is that it is all about Rex. I dont find him either incredibly knowledgeable about the game, his comments incisive or entertaining. In fact, its difficult to follow the game because Rex is more concerned about Rex and not the game.

I note 3AW has given him a long overdue kick in the pants.

Agree with the article. It was an eerie feeling at the start of the game. There was no atmosphere and none of the usual noise you hear at the start of a game.

Greg Champion would probably say the Demon fans were "at the snow" but it's still an interesting point. There wasn't much red and blue to be seen at the ground. Melbourne supporters fall off the bandwagon much quicker than most other clubs and it's one of our major weaknesses. We are bleeding financially and our fans aren't showing up or supporting their club.

It's no use complaining about the advantages Collingwood gets with the fixture because their supporters always stick fat no matter where they are on the ladder. That's why the AFL bends over for Eddie on almost every issue.

3AW didn't give Rex so much of a kick in the pants as they did to Ralph Horowitz his producer who I know is a died in the wool Demon supporter from birth. They also sacked Hutchy who was actually not a bad contributor to the programme. They kept the others including Rex who's responsible for most of the anal humour which caused the station's drop in ratings. Anyhow I don't listen to him any more. Unlike most Demon supporters, I prefer going to the game rather than listening in!

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b
