That is probably as good as it gets for the Dees in 2026 with the exception of milkshake.

so Culley not best 23?

I had forgotten the first two. The other two will struggle to get games this year. Viney has had no pre season and Bowey's injury will see him miss most of the season if not all.

Haha OD. Your pessimism levels have just about hit an all time high.

NC you surely don't think either will play a meaningful part in 2026 do you?

I think you need new batteries in your optimism meter.

It's about the kayo subscription?

Sign up to the digital membership!

The basic GA membership get a very poor game day experience (in my opinion). Up in the bleachers, no seats on the wing, stuck with the majority of opposition supporters when they close off areas, or it's a game against those big supporters team.

Not many extras for GA membership.

User pays system, in this so called, not for profit organisation.

Death of the grass root supporters.

I'm not sure about that, at least as far as our home games go. I have access to level two but prefer to stand in M9 (bay 13). If the weather is fine I'll sit towards to back on level one. No reserve seat. Viewing is pretty good. About 60% Dees.

Not possible against away teams (security) but you usually can access level one by entering via lower 'tunnel'.

BTW for away games where we are restricted to access at the Ponsford end, you can access the Olympic or Shane Warner stands via a tunnel that runs behind the Nembers' area.

Access the tunnel via top level of Ponsford.

Not pessimism - realism.

The best he has looked at any level has been as a physical defensive midfielder

He should be modelling his game on Steele

The damaging big bodied mids have strength and agility.

Kolt has strength.

He is a flanker.

If I remember correctly his agility testing in the combine was elite

Not that it necessarily means much

You don't think Bowey, who finished 4th in the bluey last season won't be a factor this season??

At worst he will be back round9/10 and from the reports it sounds like his rehab is going well and will have him back sooner than that.

What is the basis for the contention that missing early rounds precludes him from recapturing last years form?

He’s not just ‘missing early rounds’ though is he? He hasn’t had a pre season. Been injured, hasn’t even run since December, that makes a massive impact on a player’s year. Not to mention, he suffered one of the worst foot injuries you can do, it’s changed and ruined people’s careers. To think that he’ll come back from that into last year’s form is ridiculous really.

Yeah you are right, I had a look. He came 2nd. It doesnt seem to have translated into the real world as yet.

I think it is the issue that limits Tom Sparrow as well.

Guessing Melksham's not part of King's plans in the early rounds considering he played in the magoos last week and doesn't appear in the frame for tomorrow's game.

I still think he'll have a role in the side as the season evolves.

Jefferson bone stress injury in his foot.

So Jefferson is out injured not replaced by Kentfield as was ‘reported’

Could be both though.

Jefferson seems like a Fritsch clone. Wether he replaces him off the bench or in the side will depend on other selections.

Tom Stewart had a Lisfranc in mid August 2021, recovered in 3 months , did a full preseason and played every game he wasn’t suspended for in 2022 and was All Australian.

There’s no reason Bowser with an early December lisfranc can’t be back training in April, ready to go in May if not June and play half the season. Good for half the season.

Thats not optimism, thats a realistic injury time line.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
