Roo wants to pay attention.

In the one on one drill Kingy was running, a defender versed a forward... the drill was not ( apparently) deemed finished til either the ball was kicked for score, or defender kicked it back to ( couldn’t tell )

Roos 2nd ( 3rd all but non existent) efforts were , well, lax. He was let known in no uncertain terms 😉

Just sayin' what was in front of me .

Others seemed... umm... more keen.

Oh, I was by no means disputing what you said. I just wanted to make a point of saying that the spray Rooey copped was followed by a more gentle explanation, if you will. I think this is great coaching.

Tmac a no-show because he has a family engagement to attend.

For a second there I thought you wrote "Trac a no-show" 🙄

Do you know whether Harves actually got concussed? Or is this the club being very, very cautious?

Saw Kalani take a run and jump grab on the boundary and you’d swear it was Jeff out there.

I dont doubt it. 😉

What i took away from today is very few magnets are already on the board 😉

No one should take anything for granted.

And thats how it should be.

I liked the looks of Moose... Luker was in seemingly fine fiddle. Roo looked out of sorts at times.

Just my take

He’s not sure if he was actually concussed, he said because it’s only December they can afford to have him miss a couple of sessions. Not that he was enjoying it, he doesn’t do sidelines well.

PS Tracc was definitely a no-show 😁

Yes

And it's "in fine fettle". But I'm just thrilled to hear that phrase and to be able to read about my team's training. The internet is such a double-edged sword. BTW does Luker regret his parents' name choice? I guess if there's one of those quizzes and it's for players with unique first names he goes in. That's not all bad.

No, it’s the complete opposite. He loves the name. It’s his mother’s maiden name and he is super close with his grandmother (his mum’s mum) so it has a special meaning

Nothing has been posted today but he might be referring to Friday's post.

This is great! It’s from Friday’s session. And ima go ahead and claim credit for the soundtrack. I told Trent our videographer that it’d be wonderful to not always have the generic electric guitar background music. I said (jokingly)… “A classical piece would be nice.” And here we are 😃

Just on the way home after going to my first training run for the 2026 season. Among other things I took the binoculars so I could watch certain players of our tall forwards I thought Kentfield was the best. I watched Jefferson the most, believe me I am trying to be neutral in my opinion on today and it is still early December however I saw nothing to suggest he is about become a key forward at senior level. He looked casual today from what I saw. Turner is a lot bigger player up close than what you normally see from afar in a game at the G. There were a few I had to keep checking to find out who they were. The next best thing was the weather, a great day to watch a bit of training from under the trees. At one point I thought it was raining but know the sprinklers had come in field behind me.

Fine fiddle is what Nero was doing while Rome was burning. We’re not in that much of an emergency situation just quite yet.

New 23

B: Lever, Petty, Jiath

HB: Salem, Turner, Lindsay

C: Culley, Steele, Langford

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, L.Pickett

F: Fritsch, Mihocek, Melksham

FOLL: Gawn, Rivers, K.Pickett

IC: Taylor, Windsor, Langdon, Tholstrup, Sparrow

EMERG: Howes, Laurie, Kentfield

Interesting to see Tholstrup in many starting 23’s. Granted he missed the majority of preseason last year but would want to be showing a fair bit to make Round 1.

Would hope Sparrow is doing a whole lot more to be getting a guaranteed game each week as well.

Geez that’s horrible for Bowey given he had a career best year last year!

The injury is no joke. They say 6 months but I’d be giving him 12, rebuilding slowly and no risking reoccurrence at all. We’re not likely to be in contention so better to look after one of our really good young players properly

Wonder if this potentially opens up a SPP spot for Boweys injury.

I doubt that the injury would be of the severity to have him placed on an inactive list which would open up a SPP spot. For that to occur it would have to be long term and virtually season ending.

I saw Bowsa at training on Friday in a moon boot and on crutches and if it’s an ankle ligament requiring surgery, then it would appear to be not dissimilar to what one of my grandsons copped playing in a VAFA C Grade final in September (torn ligament/syndesmosis). He’s been off crutches for a while and out of his moon boot for a couple of weeks but probably won’t get the go ahead to start running until the end of the month. If Bowey’s ready to start his own “preseason” on that basis (he’s a professional athlete and his injury might not be as severe), he won’t be ready to start it until a few weeks into the season. He’s probably out 6 months which is bad but not enough to warrant an SSP replacement.
