Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sandringham v Werribee

I was unable to get to the match but apparently only 8 Melbourne players....heard that on he radio....but will await confirmation of that total...

Spot on Zebraman except that there were nine Demons playing. Byron Pickett pulled out injured and so did Zebras Andy Biddlecombe and Phil Zarra who was going to make his senior debut. As a result Daniel Hayes was a last minute inclusion off the interchange. Apparently, he was kitted up to play for the reserves but was called out of the rooms at 11:00am and told he'd be making his senior VFL debut. He was tentative to start with and looked a bit lost but picked up a few possessions and looks to have a few ball skills. Will benefit from the run in this company but is likely to finish of the year in the reserves.

It was a great effort from the team with a lot of the younger players showing out.

Of the Demons, Benny Holland looked very good and Brent Moloney might have done enough for inclusion but that's subject to any plan that the club has in place to deal with his groin injury.

Sandringham has grabbed top spot with Geelong's one point defeat at the hands of the Casey Scorpions while Sautner's seven puts him back on top in the VFL goalkicking.

So that would have to be Tom Paterakis' best game for the seniors I take it? Can anyone tell me where he played?

Huge concerns for Byron Pickett stranded on 199 games, one feels that Melbourne will give him his one game out of

courtesy to get to the milestone sometime between now and the end of the year, but he's not doing himself any favours

if he's injured...

Why oh why give a charity game to a player who blatantly breached team rules during the year and has not for the past two years made a decent effort to present himself fit for pre season.

He was a gifted player who could have chosen to do something very special for us by honouring the terms of his contract. He cheated his Club, his teammates and supporters. He can celebrate his 199 games at year end. He does not deserve another one.

I tend to agree Rhino, he doesnt deserve the game, but I just feel the club will give it to him as a 'farewell gift'.

Totally Agree - he can play 200 games next year if he shows up fair dinkum for our 2008 assault.

$300,000 was taken by Pickett and he OWES Melbourne plenty. Even if he retires at years end, it will leave a bitter taste in my mouth for someone who demanded so much and gave us basically 10-15 decent games last year.

if he wants to play on, Melbourne are in the box seat to offer him a FAR reduced salary for one year.

Get the feeling he just used us and will go home though. Hope i am wrong.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
