Interesting perspective on the changes at Casey -

Cameron Burt's post promotes his Medium article analyzing Casey Demons FC's 2026 VFL roster, focusing on a youth-driven rebuild with an average age drop from 23.9 to 19.7 years for incoming players.

Notable additions include AFL veterans like 22-year-old midfielder Miller Bergman (16 games for North Melbourne) and 18-year-old ruck-forward Tairon Ah-Mu (37 goals in junior leagues), targeting depth in key positions.

The strategy under new coach Rhett McLennan emphasizes Gippsland regional recruits for scalable development, offsetting losses of experienced players like 30-year-old Jack Billings to prioritize Melbourne FC's AFL pathway.

Now that I read this my Casey team is this

B: Bergman, Adams, W.Lual

HB: Taylor, Berry, Bonner

C: L.Lual, Onley, Culley

HF: Mentha, Jefferson, Matthews

F: Cross, Kentfield, Melksham

FOLL: Pipicelli, Laurie, Sharp

IC: Henderson, McAdam, Moniz-Wakefield, Ah Mu, Sinnema

Hey @Ghostwriter . You seem to be a great go to.

How’s Riley Onley going if you’re aware?

Does he have any chance of playing AFL this year?

I don’t know a great deal about Ron other than Chappy was pleased with his performance in the scratch match vs North. He’s a very quiet boy, doesn’t give away too much, but a couple of weeks ago he said he’s been told by Kingy that they’re happy with his progress which is a very general comment but good to hear.

Thanks!

Hope to see him have feature in a few games, surely with a young midfield he should.

Deakyn looks like he's buggered his knee (in Casey kit)

Casey have signed Ethan Stanley who missed out on Hawthorn's last SSP position. Previous AFL experience with Freo.

Great get.

@paulamy375

VFL: big Marcus Krasnadamskis has hit the track at Casey Demons after training with Richmond as an SSP hopeful. The Dees believe he'll also remain at Eastern as over-age player.

That would be great news. Casey needs more experience in their VFL ranks and Stanley has talent. Might see the Dees as a future pathway.

Runs at 2.88 second 20m sprint at 201cm, probably is a mid season draft candidate for a lot of clubs if he goes back and takes a step up at Eastern. We’d have the advantage of giving him a run at Casey to have a look at how he goes against mature bodies

Both he and Ethan Stanley are good gets for Casey who’s ranks looked a bit thin on Saturday morning.

The commentators on the ABC and the AFL streaming service should have a field day pronouncing big Marcus’s surname.

He’ll have to put some runs on the board at Talent League level to get a Casey call up, especially if Ah-Mu can hold his spot and Kalani White can hopefully rejoin the mix soon (MFC media I’d love an update if available).

Stanley will help, although it’s interesting the 4 healthy former AFL players on Casey’s list all play half back. Stanley, Lual, Bergman and Bonner. And Deak Smith is a defender too.

I’m sure they’ll move them around to the wing and maybe half forward but it leaves a big opportunity for our young on ballers and we don’t really have any!

DeakynSmith is pretty much done for the year.

Don't rely on Deakyn. It has been reported above that he's done a knee.
