FD rate Adams. And I have an inkling King has designs for Petty back…

Mihocek makes that a real possibility now.

Adams is a WIP RP. He looks good at VFL level but no g'tee he'll be anything other than serviceable at AFL level so far. Of course that could change as he progresses and he may end up better than serviceable but who knows.

It's really just Turner at this stage in terms of 'talent bank' that is likely to come on and hold a D spot down on a regular basis at AFL level.

Petty is a known quantity down back and was always considered the 3rd stringer tall behind May & Lever, but only when match ups called for the 3rd tall.

We still have Lever and May might play on for one more year but i doubt either will ever be back to the levels we once saw in their hay day.

What if we swapped May for him!!!

May has dropped away from his best levels but until now his average levels of output are still (probably) ahead of Aleer's imv.

Unless Aleer improves substantially over the pre-season or May falls away badly again in 2026 (if he's on board) i would see that as probably a losing trade for us.

Not a bad idea. There could be a win win where we offload May's salary from our books (while GWS can offset it against Aleers) and leaves us in a better position to pay a greater portion of Olivers salary.

I must say I haven’t watched Leek a lot - he is 194 cm

Does he play as a KPD, does he have pace, marking and spoiling ability?

Plays like …….. ?

My favourite real marketplace fail is:

Buyer: hello is this still available?

Seller: Yes it is

Buyer: Who are you?

Seller: huh?

Buyer: please stop messaging.

Seller: you messaged me???

Buyer: STOP MESSAGING ME I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE

People are wild.

As I said, I don’t believe Saints are telling the truth.

Giants are making it clear they were happy to negotiate, even with a 2027 pick, which after Tassie raids all the good players, will be pretty useless.

They have run out of cap room and absolutely made a mess of this and treated Leek disgustingly as all of the AFL are saying.

NAS, Windhager and Wilkie all with big contract bumps, which would likely be the entire Aleer allocation.

They have paid enormous money to make sideways moves, I’m sure are going to crash spectacularly

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
