Makes sense - except surely taking that approach means we end up with even less leverage. We're shouting "We want him out". It encourages more clubs to talk to him... but then Hawthorn convince him to want to come to him but they are offering less than anyone else. He then doesn't want to accept who we want him to and we're left weighing up keeping him or trading him for well unders. I just think we'd get screwed further with this approach?

From a draft pick perspective yes, but if players were involved maybe not

Is it completely off the table now @Demon Forever ?

Can you see us making a last ditch effort and maybe chucking in a F1?

The only leverage we had was to hold Trac to his contract and it sounds we were not going to do that

and it sounds GC knew we were not going to do that

ask yourself how they knew this? I will leave it at that

Not 100% over as the dees will push right upto 7.30 for Bailey. I could see them throwing some picks on top to get it done (My opinion)

Low chance but as long as we are breathing, we will continually ask the questions. With Steele being looked at I have the sense that the dees are taking GC by their word.

I think we can close it considerably sooner next year, when he comes out and publicly nominates Hawthorn

Don’t get me wrong I’m being blindly optimistic but I don’t understand why everyone thinks we have no chance next year. (outside of a capital standpoint)

it’s been stated multiple times Bailey is open to any club. We’ve been keen on him since his draft year, he’s stated he’d love to play under king, he has connections with many people within the club as well as the hour drive from Casey to Moe.

going to a club like Hawthorn he’s gonna find himself in the same position he’s currently in at the suns. Playing behind 3 or 4 different mids. Carlton have zero chance next year being all tied up in the draft, would he really want to go to Collingwood who are about to fall off a cliff?

Again it’s blind optimism but the way I see it, he walks straight into our best 22 in a starting mid/half-foward role being a key figure and playing alongside our young core to rocket up back up the ladder. I have faith and I think more people should too.

It's just me and how much i rate Bailey Humphrey but i'd be totally happy to just offer outrageous overs and get him.

Trac and next year first which could be top 5, or even next year and 2027.

I think having someone with this level of talent on the hook is rare and it's sometimes worth just paying overs when you're a smaller club like Melbourne to get in transformational talent like BH.

I don't disagree

I know many wont like to hear this however its in the best interest that CP5 and Oliver are moved on. The heavy contracts and performance of both players have been underwhelming. One self inflicted and the other has just had enough and needs a change. In order for us to move forward, we need to move forward to set ourselves up for our next tilt.

I am very grateful for everything those 2 have provided us "Premiership", but they have also been our achilles heel at the same time. With cap space next year, good young crop coming through and stability in the football department, all is not so dire.

I can understand some that are disgruntled but we have managed the past 2/3 years quite poorly and this ultimately became the reason for change, including Goodwin.

I thank everyone who has joined this forum seeking clarity, inside information etc. Regardless of what happens we will be ok and for those that doubted what I had posted. I would bet anything I have on the legitimacy of the information. I will always standby what I have published.

Go Dees and hope to see you all at the footy in the new year.

What are the chances of getting to 200 Pages when there clearly is no chance of a result !!!

Wonder how many are Tax payer funded posts !!!

Hopefully most of them.

We do NOT have any leverage here. We lost it once Trac burnt his bridges with the club. For all his culinary skills, he can not unmake this omelette and walk back in.

Once Trac very publicly nominated GC there was no way back and the Suns know it.

Kudos to Lamb for pushing through to the end on BH and/or getting those two first-rounders, but he’s on a hiding to nothing.

I’m not buying into the “let’s circle back next year” narrative.

I expect us to win less games next year, even with Goodwin gone, while Hawthorn probably make a prelim at worst. I’d have a hard time believing a potential champion in the making choosing a bottom 4 side over a team on the verge of a flag.

If BH was indeed interested in coming to the MFC, this trade week was now or never and we couldn’t get it done/GC wouldn’t allow it to get done.

However we went all in on Bailey and hence why we asked GC to get involved

Not convinced BH is the only reason we wanted GC involved. Not saying it wasn’t part of it, but when you look at the draft hand of Adelaide v GC and the needs of GC given their academy kids, I reckon that was equally influential

Bailey will always be a player of interest to us, up until an age where he doesn't fit us anymore.

Its just a romance that our recruiters have always had since day one. I tend to agree, its this year or never. Just my gut feel

Trac shafting the club on the way out. His manager/advisors haven’t exactly covered themselves with glory here either.

agreed. The clubs primary focus was Bailey, but they also needed a redundancy plan in place should Bailey not be allowed to leave. Hence 7 and 8 were a better option than what Adelaide could have provided.

Interesting to note that Trac asked for more money at Adeliade but not at GC

I hear what your saying DF, but everyone keeps going on about 7 and 8, which is going to be realistically 10 and 11 possibly higher, which then turns into 2 x low teen picks for our best player, along with topping these [censored] up to help them gain access to 2 top 10 kids from there academy. Happy with the 2 higher picks, which I'd be flipping to west coast or who ever ends up higher up the board, but no more than trac going there way, it's just a [censored] in the face of Tim Lamb who is once again turning out to be a wet paper bag come trade time.

which all comes back to: Should we have got rid of them last year? I can understand why they didmt with Trac as his value would have been even less after being told he almost died and didnt know if he would come back. Clayton definitely should of moved on last year.

Pretty obvious that the Humphrey trade hasn't been 'on' for a while, considering we were linked with taking 7 and 8 for Trac early last week. Funny how a lot on here are quick to pot the media for anything but are happy to believe what a random anonymous poster says on a fan forum? It's literally the media and journalist's job to get this stuff right, their reputation is on the line.
