Probably already mentioned, but are we the only team to not to lose Brisbane this year?

We should have been. Had them on toast the first time and put in a shocker last quarter, but beat them easy the second time.

So no F/S we miss out on White, Yze, Green, etc etc

It's not about who we miss out on...it's just time to close this loophole down.

If it's a serious competition then it needs to be done properly.

Seeing as we want to change everything else that made this game unique, then this one is a no brainer.

Geelong are a good team but they get a free pass into September every season.

They are literally the ONLY team that gets genuine home ground advantage and that dung heap down the highway. Like, a proper advantage. Interstate teams can provide a hostile environment when they play at home, but it’s still just a regular ground.

Geelong’s ground is incredibly hard to play at with its dimensions AND THEY GET TO TRAIN ON IT.

So, 9 home games a year against minnow sides means 7-9 guaranteed wins, then 5 at the MCG where they have no real disadvantage to the tenants, a few at Docklands, etc.

Imagine if we got 9 home games a year at Casey.

They’re still a good side, always have been always will be, but it’s kinda unfair if you ask me.

Generally this is very true and always played a significant part of their success.

Although this year their win loss ratio at home wasn't excellent.

But even though it's just over an hour away from the G it's like travelling to Perth.

And of course we are the mugs who play there every single year.

Adding Draper and Allen next year although I don't think they would be that great the current mix is perfect. Coleman returning is a huge weapon if he can stay fit

Brisbane Lions will have access to Daniel Annable who has been with the Brisbane Lions Academy since he was 12 years old. Annable is going to be a 4-5 pick in the National Draft this year. I remember when Casey VFL played against Brisbane Lions VFL side. Annable played a very good game.

Danger mouse has reached his limit. Bye bye Danger & Jeelong .. too many 30 plus that can't run the second half

FWIW, I hate Jeelong but I hate Collibobbles more

I'm glad Brisvagas has their b2b.

Now it's our turn.

Is it???

Suck on a fat one Cats!!

Masters of getting close and losing

I mean.. I’d be a lot happier if we had a record that showed success like that, even if not to get the major success every time.

Us bottom feeders aren’t looking so hot.

There will be more good field kicks in their reserves than our seniors.

Unfortunately, for the past 30 years or so, we have been prophylactic procreators instead of prolific procreators.

Whereas all the other teams were absolutely stacked full of [censored].

Yeh, I mean. That’s sort of true 😂

We also generally sit in the bottom four instead! 🥹

If prelims were a sign of success Rodney Eade would be celebrated as a successful coach.

*I do think he is a very good coach

Can't let the umpires vote on it anymore

You presumably are meaning the Downlow.

Lachie Neale coming on changed the game. What a sub.

Huge risk, high reward. And halftime subbing out an uninjured player even ballsier.

Did Starswvic see out the game?

His career could potentially be in doubt with a history of concussion

poor fella

Lions deserving premiers

and they beat pies and cats to win it so we're all very thankful for that

It's interesting ,when Fagan wins a premiership, he doesn't want to be front and centre afterwards. He prefers the back seat.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
