We are just about to head off for the Demon School Holiday Clinic - given recent events, the question and answer session should be worth a listen - can't beat the honesty of kids!!!!

I will get back to you all this afternoon if I have anything to report. Anyone else going?

My three boys will be on their way too with my wife. I will also get a report back and post any feedback. One of mine asked last night if the clinic would be ND's last one & I had to tell him not to expect to see neale there. Good for the players that they had meeting with the Chairman yesterday to clear the air rather than after the clinic.

This is always a big day for the club - the event sells out year in, year out - and I've only ever heard good reports.

Hopefully today is no different.

Took a day off work to take my 9 year old son. Had a great day and my son enjoyed himself too.

All the players were real good to the kids in our group.

Special mention to Neita,Matty Bate,Flash,Robbo,Brocky,Byron,Nate Jones and Carrol for hanging round to talk and sign anything put in front of them.

Get more inside info from the support staff than players.

Got the impression from Jarred that playing is away off yet.

Neaves realy wants to get on the list

Browny may have played his last game, others injuries may get him a few more.

matty bate is a legend!! they call him THE PRAWN down at the club. he is the one the players hang a bit of fun and bagging on him because of his red hair and stupid antics. i hope he has a long and good career at this mighty club

Cheers for the info.

Why don't they just pull the plug on him and let him have the rest of the season off?

I'm not liking this 1-2 week injury of his. It must be one hell of a stubborn hamstring!

A volunteer advises me that Ward and Carroll were in charge of a Goalkicking module, Johnstone and McDonald headed up the Superboot group and that Brock was on permanent Demon Ruckle duties (he took the head off at one stage and everyone had a bit of a giggle).

Brocky with the mascott suit on was a blast.

No matter what the kids did he just kept going and seemed to enjoy himself

You beat me to it with a photo of Brock! Brock in the mascot suit was probably the highlight of the day. Would have to say he was enjoying it every bit as much as the kids.

As usual, all the kids had a blast, most of the players were really nice (2 of them were grumpy and rude but I won't name them on here as they are usually both really nice but both times the parents in our group sort of took a bit of a sharp intake of breath - injury and bad form catching up perhaps). The younger blokes were awesome - Matty Bate, Nathan Jones, Isaac Weetra and Shane Neaves in particular.

Trivia room a classic - taken by Brad Green and Ricky Petterd - one of the questions was who is our tallest player and a little girl pops up her hand and says "Flash!" which got a huge laugh. Then Brad decided to step the questions up a notch with "This player was a number one draft pick a few years ago, has long hair and looks and acts like a girl" Bet Travis would love that.

Chopper Carrol and Wardy were both laughing at the fact that they were on goal kicking duty. The good bloke award has to go to Daniel Ward - twice I saw him looking after kids that were lost and couldn't find their particular group - he went out of his way to sort out the tears.

The usual Neitz, Robbo, Davey, Yze, Bruce and Trappa amongst others staying out forever signing autographs.

Young Mr Frawley has his own fan club already - got to say I think there are cuter ones on our list but he has a group of 4 or 5 teenage girls following his every step decked out in their number 8 jumpers.

Would have to say the groups weren't as well organised this year - my 7 year old son was in with a group of kids ranging from 3 years to 11 which makes the difference in skill level pretty obvious. Not meaning to have a go as it is a fantastic day which must take a huge amount of organising so THANKS to all those that make it happen.

All in all another great day.

Brock was great today..

I was there helping the players and explaining to the kids the days activities.

I answered many questions ... the two that had me stunned were ..

Is Neil Daniher coming ?

Why is he not coming ?

I did ask many players a variety of question,

To Juice, What happened with the spilled mark ?

Answer ... The lights and nerves

Miller Hopes to be playing this week,

Trapper was gutted over last weeks game

Bell was walking , Green was crawling, Buckley looked great

anyway a great day with all the kids and players

nice one - just about to do my 'brock' report and everyone else has too!

Just had to photograph it.

definitely the highlight.

liked the 'quiz' section where they asked for the last three captains of melbourne,

Ron Barassi and Norm Smith both got mentions.

My daughter then won the prize (the answer is viney if you are struggling!),

won a car sticker off Pettard which was nice and apt since our car numberplate is MFC-15

Hoping my eldest daughter would lose her loose tooth in the tackling drills, but didn't happen.

My 6 year old tackled Byron at one of last year's clinics and went home with her tooth in a tissue.

All in all an excellent day.

Was that the Mother's Day clinic last year? We were there when the little girl lost her tooth and it was hilarious - everyone was hanging it on Byron - in a nice way of course - I wouln't stir him for real if you paid me. He is such a big solid unit - even after shedding a few kg!

Well Demon Rob - you will have to tell your little girl that she is famous as we have told the story of Byron taking her tooth out over and over again!

I also remember that day with the showers compared to the beautiful day out today.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
