You have to convince the player to come first. Most of that is done months in advance, not in a couple of days during trade week (and a half).

Indeed. However, I'd have though our recruiters would have a list of players coming off contract and free agents next year, with whom they have had some initial conversations about their futures... over this year, especially given its been clear for a year Trac may be out.

I’ve never said he’ll be sent away for a future second rounder, I’ve said there’s no world where he is at the Club next year and there is a strong desire from the top down for him to depart.

You'll be proved right if the club settles for picks in any deal

Is there a possibility that May, Clarrie & Trac all end up in Demon colours next season?

May can't find a new home (almost certainly because of the $800k asking price)

The whole league knows about Oliver's troubles. He's high risk (and costly) However, if the club is happy to take unders, he could find a new home. But again, Lamb keeps saying that we need good value back

As for Petracca, Lamb also seems to be serious about getting back very good value in a trade (and that may not happen)

So maybe Oliver to go but not sure on the other two

I come here looking for rumours (as per the subject title) but all I see is the sort of arguments going on in other threads. How about some actual rumours? They can be as absurd and based on fantasy as you or any journo would like.

I’m only here to see who the mole was? When does that sacking come?

We are heavily into Bont and Nick Daicos has nominated the Dees. WC offered 2 for Bailey Laurie and Woey.

Butters is keeping it quiet but he will be a Demon next week.

Jeff White is making a comeback with us.

We are appealing the Gus non penalty to Maynard and resultant lost flag.

The Dees players will not drink water next year.

Vegemite be banned at the club.

A fertiliser company will be our main sponsor next year.

End of the third episode. It's a cliffhanger.

We certainly do.

According to you we won't take a stand and hold Petracca to his contract because: "Only in the delusional world of football supporters. We will never do that, nor would any club"

But apparently this also fools the List Managers at other clubs because otherwise according to you this is "All posturing around getting the best deal we can for Trac. The minute anyone from the club says that we want him gone, we’ll be lucky to get a future 2nd rounder."

Craig Cameron must live in the delusional world of football supporters then.

Today's rumour - Brody Mihocek has requested a trade back out...

Two open spots in the team photo, you say?

Right in between Gawn and Viney, you say?

Obviously this isn't really for this thread but neither is anything else in it. Just trying to lighten the mood before someone starts shouting 'Prove me wrong'.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
