Rubbish. When Pickett plays we are more likely to win than not. Before today he was the only player in the league averaging over 20 possesions and 2 goals a game.

He went off injured at training mid week and didn't train again before the game.

When you are out there you need to perform but should have he been out there?

In hindsight I should have seen it coming. The MFC of old is back. Win a few and then not turn up. I guess to be fair we have given our all in the last two games and perhaps in travelling again had nothing left to give. But it's a bitter loss not just due to our kicking and big prior wins, it's most likely our finals chances gone.

Rivers has been really good at times this year, but like the whole team today, he was very ordinary.

As I said we should’ve won but it’s a hell of a lot harder when you’re buggered. And AFL has such small margins.

Chris Scott said a couple of years ago that they load… And will load even if they get it wrong.

We still have time to get in the eight.

Lindsay 1st year player on his 12th game! The experienced players missing but goes beyond that our pressure was poor and copped goals on transition too easily

Poor trades of experience talent , game plan hasn’t evolved, look at the last 3 premiers successful trades & topping up & all still contending, whilst both the pies & cats missed finals after winning flags they are both contending, we have butchered our trades & topped up with vfl players at best, only positive are the young kids they drafted. it’s 4 seasons since 21 & yet to find a power forward, Weeds failed, JVR who knows

Responding by suggesting we offload him. Because he kicked poorly, after kicking five goals last week and winning us the game. He also won us the game against Freo. He’s won us 2 out of 5 games this year off his own boot.

We are crying out for speed and ball use and talent like his. But by all means let’s trade him off because he, like every other Melbourne player, missed gettable shots.

I think Lindsay should be traded too. 0.5 this year. A wasted draft pick.

All of a sudden King’s Birthday feels like it could be a massive fizzer

I'm losing confidence in the Champion Data analysis of the game. Apparently Koz was our second highest rated player today with 13.5. About the only noteworthy statistic from his game was 5 clearances. He didn't kick a goal he had 12 disposals and laid three tackles. I love Koz but geez their rating system needs some serious work. He was bloody awful today.

Loading only happens/works if you can make finals. If you start 0-5 you don't have the luxury of loading. We turned up expecting to win and played arrogant footy. The players got ahead of themselves AGAIN and didn't want to do the hard work, thinking they deserved to win on form.

Giving them an out for that disgraceful performance is ridiculous. And IF they were loading (which I doubt) the fitness team should be sacked. Wins now are more important than fresh legs in September when our players will be in Bali/Europe.

Take away those awful goals to Butler in the goalsquare which should have never happened and kick two more goals in the second half and we win. Losses to North, Essendon and now the Saints have destroyed our season. 😢

I'm being serious here. Has anyone actually asked Goody what the goal-kicking training regimen is at our club? You know, like how many hours a week do our players actually practice kicking for goal. Ideally, 3 or 6 or however many players should stay back after training and just have shots at goal, from different distances, different angles. You can't come back into the rooms until you have kicked 50 goals. Forget the sports scientists who say "Oh no, that will ruin his muscle development or his self-confidence". Just get out there are perfect your kicking technique. You can't stop until you have kicked 50 goals. If the sun sets, turn the lights on so they can kick their 50 goals. Simple, really. It's clear from the last three or four years that we do not practice this vital art.

So many Dees supporters blindly refuse to see this. They treat him like he's sacred because of his form in 21-22. He's really not become as good as he should have, regardless of the reason. McDonald is a better defender and Turner is currently a better interceptor. Were the Dee's up there on holidays. From the pre-game story, they showed more joy and enthusiasm for the community interactions then the game.

To kick those apparently easy goals, you just need to be switched on. No discipline, will or concentration, heads must have been in other places.

Missing easy ones deflates those who worked hard to create the opportunities.

I’m just one to look at the big picture and not feed off my emotions.

I’m not one to kick the team, especially when they’re down. It’s not like they don’t want to win or aren’t trying.

Mate, you don't mess about with loading when you've started 0-5. There is no room for it. You have to beat teams like St Kilda, however much effort it takes, even if it means you're less of a chance vs Collingwood (a game you're 95% going to lose) the next week.
