We need a big win if we are a realistic chance at finals

If we play we same intensity and game plan of the last 2 weeks we should win by 50+

I think it's going to be alot tougher then people think, the Saints have some good players and being up north it really brings it closer. If we get out to anything in the way of 4 goals Ross will start flooding the defence and try get us on counter, they could pinch this game.

However if we play near our best we will win I'm not fussed about percentage just want the game style to look as good as last week. Doubt we will make the 8 being effectively 3 games out

given our recent uptick in form, we have every right to be confident

but just remember, we've been beaten by North this year

i hope the team aren't getting ahead of themselves

Agree with you that it’s strange we’re playing St Kilda up there as opposed to a Freo or Port but that might be a good thing??

If I was a Saints supporter I’d be furious about my team having to play this match in Alice.

Been debated for a long time. NT pays us close to $1M for this match.

What is strange is that we are playing a Melbourne based club whereas in the past it was usually an interstate club. If played in Melbourne we would have got a crowd of 30-40k at most which would return maybe $200k. ( Around 25k is considered the unpublished break even number for the MCG).

For me I like it as it helps avoid the killer game in Darwin

Thanks for this breakdown. It's quite the good earner.

If I was a Saints supporter, I'd be furious at myself.

Last day of my holiday and I really need a Dee’s win. I’ve flooded the lads footy wattsapp group with the kind of pro Demon propaganda that we read here daily.

Still the most naturally gifted player I’ve ever seen play. Just freakish skills.

Gee watching the footy of Callum Ward being upset is upsetting in itself. Poor bloke. Footy is a cruel game. I really feel sorry for the guy. Hit him really hard. At his age those things can mean a career.

Very important match today. This is the type of game we would normally take far to easy and drop. We are going to find out if we really are back on track or not today.

We share the responsibilities 😊

Assume Laurie the sub?

I suspect I'd just be despondent.

Bit disappointed Laurie’s the sub. Think he deserves a full game.

On Liam Jurrah, still hold some blame to Mark Neeld, he really failed to see the kind of player Jurrah was and if my memory serves me there was some murmuring’s of racism at the club at the time. I may be wrong on this but it’s how I felt at the time.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere yet, but a listener to the DeeBrief podcast created this track which is one of the greatest things I have ever heard and should get everybody HYPED for today's match.

I like it a lot, but there’s one thing about it that stops me from getting too excited by it… that guitar bit that just repeats over and over, sounds too much like…. She’s As Cold As Ice… I [censored] hate that [censored] song so [censored] much, I’m verging on the pathological!! Apologies if I’ve put that awful earworm in anyone else’s brain.

Lyrically it’s very clever…

We need to destroy this mob. Take their soul early and eat it in front of them.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
