May 25, 2025May 25 What are your thoughts on the way that we lined up Langdon for most of the match. He started every center bounce at Center Half Forward. You guys understand the game and the tactics better than I so can you explain what his role and what the game plan around that is? Is it the opposite to Windsor starting at Half Back and running forward to attack at center bounce.
May 25, 2025May 25 I thought this was Clarry's best game of the season and possibly the last two seasons. 31 disposals, 8 score involvements, 25 CBAs, a goal but here's the kicker... 12 tackles and 22 pressure acts!People were right to criticise earlier in the season when he simply didn't look like he could last a whole game but if you ever needed evidence of his endeavour, this game was it. We'll hopefully see his ability to run out the game improve as the season goes on.
May 26, 2025May 26 Who said we can't kick a winning high score? Can you imagine what the scoreboard would have looked like if we had kicked straight. Set shot goal kicking is a massive problem at the club. Just look at the scoreline in the Casey game. Through out the match I always thought we were well in control but when you fail to convert your opportunities like we did in the second quarter with 23 forward 50 entries to 5 and only kicking 3 goals 8 to 2 goals straight you leave the door ajar for the opposition. We kicked the first after half time but they then kicked 2 and then missed the next 2. If they had kicked those 2 it's game on. We have to put teams to the sword. Alls well that ends well but that should have been an 80 point plus drubbing.
May 26, 2025May 26 Evening fellow Demonlanders!Goodwin said in his post game presser that we don’t have any spots open for the mid year draft..Is this neglect or arrogance? We have 2 (McAdam & AMW) players listed with Season ending injuries. We would be mad not you put 1 if not both of them on the Long Term Injury List & go after the best of the rest!We could do alot worse than putting Riley Bonner on our list as depth or trying to pluck another fwd be that mid/key size. Good clubs pick up gems in the mid year draft.

May 26, 2025May 26 Also, I know he is abit of an “almost man” but my god AJ competes with everything he’s got. It’s refreshing to see a mature age player attacking every loose ball like he is playing for his rent!I think we are a better team with him in it. We need to keep playing AJ until he feels he belongs and then he’ll start taking those marks & kicking a couple of goals a game!
May 26, 2025May 26 It's easy to look at AJ and Petty's games from a stats perspective and think they contributed very little. However, Petty was able to bring the ball to ground a lot and stop McCartin from intercepting. On several occasions AJ literally bulldozed several Swans players to clear a path, got a hand in to disrupt a handball chain, or knocked the ball to the advantage of others. I think he directly assisted in 2-3 goals that wouldn't have registered a disposal.Do you each feel one goal between them is sustainable, if they routinely bring that type of forward pressure and create that number of opportunities for our small and medium players? Despite a couple of errant kicks I thought it was his best game in years and loved the goal he kicked. Vintage Salem. He had a good game, but I was surprised to see him ranked second on the AFL stats site, 139 to Max's 140. Oliver, Pickett, Langdon and Petracca followed.

But he seems to be enjoying himself out there. I saw a few smiles from him.My initial response was that he didn't dominate. In watching the replay, I still stand by this but noticed a lot more seemingly little things he did. Blocks, subtle holds, tackles and taps that set up a few goals. Things that really helped in the last 30 mins.Sadly for a bloke his size he only took one mark and achieved one hit out in rucking. So while I think he did more than enough, I've now swung back to replacing him with Jvr against the Saints. After the last two games Max must be knackered and I think Jvr would be a better option in Max's role. And hopefully Viney in for poor Spargo whose luck has been atrocious.

Then Sparrow booted one from fifty.Salem had a a cracker but your right, those ratings are well off.

And perhaps now with a better functioning forward line and delivery, he may get there sooner? Needs a confidence boost, and while he may get it in the 2s, the true confidence boost will be doing it where we need him. We COULD wait a couple more weeks - I think AJ has done some nice things (together will some unpolished sloppy things), but provided JVR comes in with a bit of physicality, rucks a bit (not too much, I think it stunted his development a bit - but yes better than AJ), and contributes i50, then arguably he's at the same level at least as AJ (minus the crazy factor that I quite like in AJ haha - was looking forward to him terrorising the saints a bit), and he can build on that and we lose nothing.TL;DR - I think JVR in truth could do/needs more time in the 2s, but may never be a perfect time to bring him in, and maybe he will get swept up in the collective confidence of the team and clunk/slot a few. Also Viney for Spargo (agree, unlucky, and has done some good things).

It’s really cool to know we’re appreciated. Please humour me while I do a bit of trumpet blowing 😁We pride ourselves on how well-placed our props are. In particular we space the giant flags out in such a way that our depth is enviable (yes, other cheer squads envy us 🤩).This was taken on Sunday…Look how far back we go!
