Cant remember...ill have to watch the game again to see. I remember he didnt get much of the ball. He's good player tho and playing him at afl level which teach him a world of good. Needs a big preseason to put on some muscle along with Frawley and Wornock

Wouldn't surprise me. First year players (and second year ones too for that matter) rarely play the full 22 game home & away season in the AFL. Bartram did last year but that was one out of the box and really surprised everyone.

I would not expect him to play the all of the rest of the season in the firsts.

Can someone tell me where they think Petterd's future (best) position is. He racks up the stats but when i watch him, he's everywhere. He floats around so i can't pinpoint a position for him.

Ricky looked fine to me on Monday, but his disposal was pretty poor, which is unlike him. I think his best position is on the back flank, but Daniher hasn't played him there in a few weeks.

Frawley should play on Kingsley if he plays. He will be the easiest opponent Frawley is ever likely to encounter at AFL level (and if he gets smashed, he can join the rest of the Melbourne defenders who have had their arse handed to them on a plate by Kingsley).

A run with Sandy wouldn't do either of them any harm and Whelan would be another option to bring in.

Would prefer for Buckley to come in if Frawley or Petterd are dropped, I'd expect Petterd to play don't forget he's had 2 weeks off to freshen up.

Buckley is quick and can kick the ball further than 25m, 2 things in his favour over Brown. But i'd agree with some other posters Whelan would be the likely replacement before Buckley and Brown. Even though I thought he had a shocker on Sunday.

I though he looked hesitant and overawed. i wondered about dropping him in favour of Buckley. But having another crack would be more use and buckley doesn't look like playing for the dees given his sandy performance...

Brown was rested from Sandy on Sunday, he had a cracking game against Adelaide, and he was also the chosen one to deliver an impassioned speech to the playing group before the Collingwood game about what it means to play in a blockbuster. Everyone can point out all they like about the deficiencies of the little fella, but he is the heart and soul of the footy club. I would think he'd come straight back into the side. Petterd to me did look to tire badly in the last quarter, but he's had plenty of rest time and will be fine. It may be prudent to rest him maybe once or twice in the remaining games to not burn the kid out.

there is more to team sport than ability and their skills, case-in-point the sydney swans. a group that know their mates are there both with them and for them, is going to beat a team of players with only ability.

obviously you need ability to perform at the optimum, but i can't see really where brown lacks in this category either. he gets the footy and runs with it, something we all love to see and i think his errors are more than made up for by his commitment and passion to the team, because his mates on the ground know that even when he mucks up, he's probably trying harder than they are to not only keep their place, but show passion in the red and blue.

a team requires players like this to form their backbone, from which young players coming through learn what is required to build a team. a need for passion, commitment, absolute endeavour and attack on the footy, knowing that if you dont get it you will at least have another mate who is in there as hard as you are.

i have viewed adelaide as being the best team of the past few years, yet they have failed in september. i view them as possibly the team with the most 'ability' but at the core of their team i don't see, from the outside at least, players who are willing to really hurt just for their mates to get the footy, as the swans have established.

Look, I love browny, I know him personally, but even he would agree that he's struggling. Sydney have a great team, but it's because every single player contributes to the cause, and we both know that he wouldn't get a game for them. The other issue is that we have players who can do everything you've described and are in much better form than Browny right now, so what's the point in playing him?
