It's funny, it's like the air suddenly smells sweeter. I can birds chirping. Even food tastes better.

Well rip the knickers off your Grandma, how damn good was that!

Thought Langford was fantastic on the wing, Bowey becoming a very good footballer and Big Max, I bow before you Big Fella, just when I thought you were slowing down you turn that on.

Little shout to Kolt.

First game back and didn’t get much of it but his pressure and aggression is something I definitely notice. Happy he’s back. Will find more of the ball soon enough.

So good to see Kolt out there again. Had a real presence.

God I love Langford... He is so smooth and deadly on that left.

Once he believes he belongs he will just rip games apart.

He brought incredible energy early and set the tone. He is going to be a 'glue' guy who brings it all together.

Made a huge difference without having many touches.

Sorry but haven't read all posts

Still celebrating!!!

Happy to take 10 goals losses if we play that style.

Why did no reporter ask goody where that has been for 5 weeks.

Hopefully going forward the message continues to be handball first before kick.

Sadly our highest paid players need a reset on this.

Well done bowey, T - Mac and petty

To everyone still critical of our last quarter.

Some perspective please. Not only did we not have Lever and May but we then lost Turner for the 2nd half who was on par with McDonald as our best defender for the day.

We then had to move Howes off Bolton onto a bigger opponent in Amiss.

So we literally came into the 2nd half with 3 strong tall defenders already lost to injuries and were completely under siege due to lack of talls. Thank [censored] for McDonald but who's rated as our best tally defender this year.

Howes also held up his end of the bargain i thought.

I've seen enough

We can absolutely go on a run now. Starting Thursday

The performance was a breath of fresh air and what's more, all our players looked like they were really enjoying themselves

It was like the shackles were released but really, it was always going to be about teamwork at speed and we had it in spades today

We still turned the ball over a bit too much and our team defence needs to get better at defending the counter attack but that's the price you pay when you change things up

Gawn was supreme and him dishing off handpasses and kicking passes sideways and sometimes back was a real sight

He was a genuine midfielder today (28 possessions)... and with Fullarton giving him a chopout, he had plenty in reserve for the last quarter when we needed him

I can't wait until his match fitness catches up, because his physical presence and goal smarts will add further dimensions to our forward line. Huge fan of this bloke.

We generated plenty of chances. Max could have just about iced the game from 15 metres out and missed and then missed again from 40. Sparrow missed a sitter and Viney just missed. We were a 4 goal better side today and I loved every minute of it. Let's do some damage for the rest of the season.

Meh. We kicked 1.6 and at least 3 of those misses (Gawn, Chandler and Melksham) should have been goals. I think a few rushes of blood under the circumstances are understandable - the fact that we didn’t lie down for the first time this year is very pleasing.

Sparrow missed from just outside the goal square too

As good as it is to get the win and a massive relief we still only kicked 1 goal in the last and that is a worry.

We turned a heap of other things around this week, so we might do the same to our last quarters next round. Right now (after slightly reducing the size of my cellar) I’m backing us in to do just that!

Wrong thread

Yea absolutely.

That's why i think it's harsh to be critical of our back 6 because i thought they defended really well and played their role.

They did a fantastic job.

If you told me that we'd kick over 100 with no Fritsch and JVR I would have told you to run around Fed Square naked for a few hours.

I was honestly anticipating a 100 point loss today, I was prepared for a very ugly game. So happy with the effort and style of game the team showed, hopefully this will convince some more to turn up on Thursday too.

Don't panic Granny still has her knickers on!

He well and truly had Amiss' measure and then he went off and Howes had to play tall on Amiss, which is when he got into the game.

Turner's first involvement in the game was a strong contested mark at CHB. Great stuff.

The future could well be at one end:

McVee Adams Lever

Windsor Turner Bowey

And at the other end:

Kolt JVR Chandler

FRITSCH Petty Trac

No May, no Lever either just quietly.

……… and no Disco for most of the second half.

Huge thanks Tommy Mac.!

Needed to sub on Aaron vandenberg to deal with o’meara’s physicality on clarry

Just a word on the selected team

The MC took a huge risk in not selecting JVR & Fritsch as it did look like a threadbare forward line, pre-game

But it worked and kudos to the selection committee for pulling the trigger

The connection between the mids and forwards was very good (all things considered)

Every time we got it forward we looked dangerous and the opposition's intercept marks seemed to be well down on previous games

We outnumbered Freo in marks 110 to 80 which was another pointer on how well we shared the ball around

As someone else noted above, we looked like a different team

My Irish Collingwood supporting mate just sent me this.

“Nothing wrong with accuracy today mate. Getting plenty of umpires calls today”.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
