Last season we didn’t get the chance to be excited even before round one. Playing Sydney in Sydney was a terrible way to start the season. I wasn’t surprised we lost. Not to mention having to fork out for flights and accommodation, and our cheer squad had to sit in the corner pocket because Sydney members sit behind the away goals. Plus the majority of Dees supporters couldn’t attend. And it made me so angry that the AFL scheduled it this way to hype up the Grundy vs Gawn thing. A loss in the first game played is huge.

Thank goodness we’re not part of the ridiculous Opening Round this year.

It doesn’t surprise me that someone who claims ‘they don’t read replies or reactions’ on an online supporter forum of the one club diminishes the benefits of connection, communication, and, lol, perspective.

I was so excited (as I'm based in Sydney) to make that game and sit with the you and the rest of the lovely Demon Army!  Except then I had to work while at the game and when I was finally free in the final quarter, we fell off the cliff 🥲

Also don't worry GW, I still live in Melbourne in my mind 😂  Accidentally even said to a waiter the other day that my friend "was visiting us in Melbourne from... Melbourne" which caused said friend and waiter to stare at me in concern

Some of that is fair. But I'm not sure we can complain about merely having an interstate game first up. While I hate how Collingwood play less interstate games and we always seem to be fixtured for away games against Geelong and West Coast every year only some teams can get a cushy easing into the year and some teams will have to face daunting teams early.

It's always interesting when someone volunteers information they don't have to. After games coaches can't admit that actually their team is hopeless and instead have to diplomatically use cliches to keep the supporter base happy. But it was telling that after maybe 2019 Nathan Jones repeated how much faith he had in our team and thus would keep playing. I had my doubts but 20 months later the team was purring along so nicely he couldn't get a game. These player comments don't promise miracles but they're a very good sign.

I am really glad this has happened, after last year it is exactly what was needed. 
The Football Department look each other in the eyes and lay it all out in front of everyone, every one gets a chance to have their say. 
Last year we sporadically played some good games, but the team wasn’t playing as one. Players were trying, but they were playing as 22 individuals 

A few things need to go our way this year, a few players need to “Step up and improve” and play that way each week

If the attitude is Team Oriented and they really meant it. we have the Talent to be a serious contender

Fritsch and JVR need to be the core of a cohesive forward line, for starters.
The Players have to be hard on themselves (walk the talk)
