Thanks Kev.

I wonder if Sharp is going to play a high half forward ANB role, Sparrow to the opposite Langdon wing, and Windsor behind the ball and through the guts.

Sparrow’s been a disaster on the wing when tried, not sure a slightly better tank and lighter frame will suddenly change the fact he gets all out of position. Eagles game in Perth they tried it again, rough.

There’s rumours of Bowser and I like that as an in game switch with Windsor to alternate where the skill/speed is coming from.

No one wants to hear it but Billings looks proper fit and like he might want to fight for his career. Forward is a disaster but some of his wing stuff was fine.

Also reckon Langford could have a crack at it. He’s a smart runner and his tanks probably better than Windsor’s last year, doesn’t have the pace but that height on a wing would be nice.

I think it's just as likely they're gonna try Sparrow at high half forward in that Nibbler role...

I attended some of the training. I was very impressed with the instructions the forwards coach was giving to the forwards. His message was he does not want forwards standing still, but too be moving to make it harder for defenders. Several drills were conducted to help improve the forwards.

Not before time IMO

Didn't realise he was in our NGA. Another player to keep an eye on for next year.

If he is really that good stand by for a one off rule change by AFL HQ

I've seen Sharp linking with the backline as well. I imagine they aren't sure where is position is yet. With Windsor heading back (probably), there is a wing position available. Though, Woey, Billings, Rivers, and Brown, could all be in line.

Half-forwards are also in the plenty. Chandler, Kolt, Melksham (excellent kicking today), if fit, Spargo, McAdam, and part timers in Tracc and Sparrow.

So much pressure for places already. Sharp can run,  able to creates separation off the defender, loves getting to the ball, and his disposals are good. I wonder if he has that negating capacity that ANB had. That is a unique skill.

Inspired by these training reports I've just dropped the $10 gift I received from a betting app on the Dees to win the flag.

Why would Windsor be heading back? Goal kicking wings with height, pace and defensive workrate are very rare.

It's his 2nd year...let the kid grow into something before we break him please

Did JT tell you that?

Yes. But he added that nothing is sorted yet.

Sparrow has developed a tank, though would he be able to outrun those who will run all day, or does he have the footy smarts like Hunter had? I believe he will be at the contest, or playing in the half-forward area as a pitch hitter.

Should be more debate on whether Sparrow actually gets a gig in the seniors next year

Rivers into the middle, and if one of, or both of Langford/Lindsay play early, Spazz might find himself at Casey more often than not

When I hear of Trac doing well at training I get excited

But when I hear of Clarry killing it, I get a crazy feeling like anything is possible

When at half forward I’d like to see Spaz block the oppo backs more, and help our talls lead at the ball.

I'm with you on that. Windsor was doing well on the wing and loves a goal. I hope it is just a learning situation in case of a need.

I understand plenty get the training in a second position.

Agree with this. Pre season Sparrow always flatters to deceive. Not sure he’s a walk up start anymore and the fact he was *finally* omitted last season shows that.

There is no way Sparrow is in our best 22 once everyone is up and firing.

He was dropped at the back end of the year when our midfield was pretty depleted and that to me was a big statement. He hasn't shown an ounce of improvement since 2021 and with guys like Tholstrup, Langford, and Sharp all coming in as extra mid/forward depth then he's no way guaranteed a spot every week.

So glad to hear Sparrow has trimmed down

he was always such a fat [censored]

The club is invested in Sparrow.  He is maturing and probably his best footy is ahead if him.

I believe his decision making needs work, as does his handballs.

An interesting year ahead for him. Hope he steps up.

The club's invested in every player on the list but they don't all play! If a guy has decision making and skill issues 6 years in that doesn't sound like an AFL standard footballer to me

We traded out a better version of the same player in Harmes

He has played almost every game in the past 4 years so you might be reading too much into one game.

His defensive running and team game is well documented so I doubt we can lose ANB and him and expect to compete if only supplemented with kids.

For sure he has underperformed on a few fronts recently but I back him to rediscover that

I noted in an thread that i hoped goody would ecourage spargo to play with a bit more freedom and creativity.

Ditto sparrow.

He's always been a role player. I'd like to see how he'd go in a less defensive role.
