Players doing sprints along the square line of the wing.

When the whistle blew they were instructed to get water and as per my previous post they had to sprint to the boundary.

Few players were gassed and on their haunches and a few players yelled to get up saying “body language”. Player quickly bounced up.

Obviously a standard is being set.

Team split into 3 rotating drill groups.

1. One on One marking and if dropped a tussle to get the loose ball

2. One on One loose ball on the ground with the player who doesn’t get the ball having to tackle.

3. Another one on one loose ball but with the goal for the player who wins the ball to get a handball off to a player running past.

Tom Morris reporting Clarry popped in to training on his way home from Revolver with Blues players

Petty playing as a defender. Whether that is because there are no other senior defenders training (TMac, May, Lever) is anyone’s guess.

Good point Andy. Would explain why he's down there and not that it's a permanent change.

With the simulated kick out to forward line transition drill their are 2 teams, blue and white, with white outnumbered. Players swapping blue and white to simulate them having to attack or defend in the their particular position.

I hope the outnumbered whites are the forwards not the backs. Makes a lot more sense to have to work harder to hit targets and alas is closer to our actual matches over the past few years.

Based on these reports I'm going out to get 2025 added to my existing premiership tattoo

You should have twenty of them by now based on training reports.

Bad signs here. Just more proof of the culture problems. I'm sure we'll be reading about it in the press.

I think the body language thing was something Darren Burgess was big on - ie never show that you're gassed in training or in a game as it gives the impression of vulnerability to the opposition. I wonder if Darren Shand has had any input yet, because this also has echoes of the All Blacks philosophy.

Not if you just keep tattooing over them like I have.

impressive but did you get your nob done

I attended some of the training. I was very impressed with how Jefferson was moving, and looked. It was good to see Clarry training. Richo came over for a chat.

For those saying Tom Couch is a great get such as yourself, why's that?  I know he was on our list previously and was involved in 2021? but other than that don't know much about him / what he brings.

Do you think he’s a chance to debut early this season?

I think he is a chance, not necessarily round 1, but if he shows his development in a few games at Casey then he is ready!

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
