The nature of Sport has nothing to do with it. Many Clubs don’t make a sound, i wouldn’t write to a Newspaper venting frustrations, which does nothing more than feed the Frenzy…..

Yep, this is where we differ.
I don't think there's a perfect way to handle a situation like this and I know my approach has it's down-sides... but I also know a good number of supporters agree with me.
If people within the club choose to let self-interest govern decisions, I'm happy for the media to call that out.
Fix it and move on.

Yes we all know that you have an Agenda

Welcome @RickyD and good on you for your letter.

You have myself and a legions of supporters who fully support what you're trying to push.

i also like you because you trigger the happy clappers who are delusional in thinking there is nothing wrong with the club.

keep it up.

I suspect that the biggest cultural difference between our club and others is that we have so many people keen to pursue their agendas and vendettas through public channels. Or, to put it another way, people ready to hurt the club in order to contest control over the club.

It is why the only times we've been able to turn in positive directions have been the times we've had 'unchallengeable' leadership figures, such as Stynes or the Roos/PJ combo.

While that's going on the leaders within the club who are trying to address the substantive issues get publicly whipped by BOTH the faction resisting changes and the faction impatient for change.

Then there are certain unscrupulous vendetta-bearers and wannabe king-makers who will take both those sides into the public domain just for the cause of white-anting the current leadership.

It would be fascinating to be able to map it all out.

I would like it to be publicly known that I have never taken any money to voice my opinions here on Demonland, but I would be VERY willing to be anyone’s mouthpiece for the right price.

One thing I have noticed about this forum however, is that anyone who

a) Dares to point out there is something wrong with the club

or

b) Dares to provide any information about it

Gets attacked relentlessly. What's the second one about.

Oh and c) Gets a WARNING for innocently mistakenly naming one person they didn't know not to because they're new but hey what's a little fun without autocracy

Good work Daz. I think it’s important that we allow people in who might have different opinions and points of view and challenge what might be the norm. It creates interesting discussion, people just have to learn to deal better with someone who may have an opposing stance on a subject to theirs.

I posted the above before reading your post, however, couldn’t agree more. Also, you can’t make a statement about having a certain position on a player, then follow up that post and say you outright “lied” (about your position on that player), then sulk when you’re called out for lying. The pile on on a certain poster is disgusting. If you’re going to make bold claims then retract them and say you lied, deal with it.

Quite easy we are having the reviews, the footy dept because of our finish this year, and the other for no other reason than to try and shut the noise up.

Lawrence is only interested in one thing, himself, he would be able to say Lookatme....he cost the club money.

You hit it on the head with the word speculation.

You are asking people to sign a petition because in your mind you are right, that is not an opinion.

Government says it all, inertia as an art form, my opinion of course, unless it is a major project, then everybody is ready to rort the taxpayer...a government project on time an on budget, I would like to see that.

Here’s a solution - don’t sign the petition. Easy

This thread has to be up there with one of the most deranged I’ve ever read in this forum 😂

@RickyD posts to explain the reasons for the open letter & ppl are acting like he’s a double agent sent by a master villian to destroy the club

Pert has been the CEO at the helm of the post-2021 debacles. How he’s managed to exempt himself from the review, I do not know. But it should be admired, because it is a master piece of bull****ery

wild thread

i don't understand the hostility towards an independent review. I wish i could review my own performance. I'd give myself top marks and big pay rises every year!

Shout out to @Skuit for his investigative journalism. It's not often I read a post that immediately makes me rethink.

@RickyD i don't know whether you're legit or not. And i don't think it really matters. I agree with what you wrote in your letter. But i wouldn't ever have cc'd the Age when writing to the club. I would never add to a pile on against the club.

When this sort of carp happens @ Hawthorn, Carlton or Collingwood the supporters stage a revolution.

Whereas as our lot include lots of sycophants & apologists.

And that is why they have had more success than us in the last 50 years.

If Satyriconhome was running things Neeld & Cam Schwab would still be running things.

Wrong....I thought Schwab interfered too much in the footy side of things

What debacles.....the media driven debacles.....we had a [censored] season on the field....the sponsors are still there etc etc

You seem to have done very little except make excuses for the current administration & blame everything on the media or supporters asking serious questions.

You & a group of other posters continue to enable & reward poor performance & accountability.

Not excuses I am asking what posters think is wrong, apart from the performance on field this year and the media beat ups.

Nobody seems to be able to tell me, unless of course everything coming out of the mouths of Barrett, McClure, Morris et al is 100% correct. Is it?

You fair dinkum want me to list them?

In no particular order -

May & Melk punch on

Claz’s ‘health’ problems

Trading Oliver 2023

Trading Oliver 2024

Legal dramas

Constant rumours about Goodwin’s off-field behaviour

Disgruntled ex-doctor

Joel Smith fails drug test

Handling of Trac’s recovery

Speculation Trac wants out

Constant leaking of confidential info to the media

Plans for a home training base seemingly going nowhere

Absolutely cooking the 2023 finals series

Grundy recruitment & subsequent trade

President going MIA for most of season 2024 & subsequently resigning

Constant negative media coverage

Meekly accepting the AFL’s handling of Brayshaw’s concussion & eventual forced retirement

And I suspect I’ve missed something

I’m not saying Pert is individually responsible for every one of these but he is the CEO, the buck stops with him

Hey BDA (and everyone else)

I appreciate much of what’s been said here and respect that you would have done things differently regarding The Age. I know plenty share your view and that’s obviously fine.

What frustrates me is that I’ve made a genuine attempt to come on here, have an open dialogue and answer questions about my letter, the petition and related matters. I haven’t hidden my identity and have done my best to respond to every point raised, no matter how absurd it seemed to me.

You’ve praised @Skuit for his 'investigative journalism,’ which involved digging up my public social media profiles and using irrelevant information to distract from the issue, turning it into something about me. I am irrelevant to the cause and the issues being raised. What @Skuit has done is the same BS technique often used by dishonest media organisations to spin the narrative and avoid addressing the actual topic. In my opinion, it's a cancer on society.

As a few have highlighted already, the personal scrutiny over the last few days has been full on. I’m not gunning for a position at the MFC – I’m advocating for a cause! It shouldn’t matter what my background is, if someone has pushed me to do this and if I've supported the club for a day or for my entire life. The point is simple: have a transparent review process and hold the MFC administration accountable.

A lot of you want to trust the club officials and don’t want an independent review. That’s OK, I respect your opinions. I haven’t suggested you’re paid by club officials or have connections to Pert or anyone else, but looking over this forum, that seems more likely than the far-fetched accusations thrown my way.

Anyway, I’m not sure I can add much more to this conversation, but the petition is still available for those who wish to sign it www.change.org/MFC_review.

I have no doubt we all share the same aspirations for the MFC and I reckon we'll get there a lot easier and enjoy life more if we stop treating supporters that have different views as the enemy.

All the best and Go Dees!

I'm not sure why I'm still bothering... Decision on the review process.

Decision led by self interest = Pert (and others with conflicts of interest) - deciding they'll oversee a review of their own performance. Good way to ensure you keep your job.

Decision not led by self interest = Independent review allowing for accountability at all levels of the club, including from those at the top - e.g. Pert.

All good Ricky

Posters will always be sceptical of posters that turn up from nowhere agitating for change and then disappear. there have a been a few of those.

You should hang around and post more on footy related matters. Once you have a track record other posters won't be as sceptical about you.

@Skuit has been posting here for a long time. He's a known quantity with plenty of runs on the board. He's not spinning narratives.

Best of luck with the petition. And as I said, hang around. You seem like an intelligent sort so I'm sure you can make a worthwhile contribution to the forum.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
