Frawley

Recommended Posts

I thought he looked OK. Isn't afraid to back himself (very quick for his size). and uses the ball reasonably well.

I wouldn't go judging him as future superstar based on his first two games, but I think he deserves another go next week.

All I want from the new kids is that they show signs of what might lay ahead. He is a great size, athletic, with good skills.

The best thing about the youngsters as they will improve over time. If he does the hard yards, he we be a good player into the future. How about Pettard he is a beauty.

He is very raw but clearly has good potential. I like his pace and looks like he will be able to keep up with the faster leading forwards, not to mention running the ball out of the backline with dash. His kicking style is a little awkward but the end result isnt too bad, my only concern is that it is a little cumbersome.

I think he and Warnock would be competing for a similar role and at this stage I have the feeling that spud will end up the better player.

Was fantastic to see him given a specific job, after last week when he sort of drifted in and out aimlessly.

I've seen Ian 'I'm ordinary' Perrie give us a bath before, so for Frawley to hold him to one goal (until he was injured), was a damn good effort.

He was then given a run with role on Edwards, who lets face it, is bloody quick and bloody smart. He couldn't hold him, but then nobody else could either.

I love that he has the balls to take them on. That's always a good sign.

Hopefully he continues to get a game from now on, and given some big jobs just to test him out. So far, so good.

Don't forget, it is much harder to come in as a youngster and dominate when you are a KP defender. The last true KPP who debuted for us was back in 2003 (Miller and Rivers) I believe.

i liked his game, perries first goal on him was just inexperience, but the runner came out, patted him on bum, and frawley grew from there

he got the ball, took players on, and burned them off

he can only continue to get better from here on

he has all the attributes to be a great key position defender, one we're desperately after...

if melbourne identify him as being a 10 year tall defender, then he should play every game for the rest of the year... tall defenders always struggle abit against quality experienced forwards at first...the only way to improve is for him to play more footy. we will be a better team next season if he plays (and perhaps even struggles abit) through this season

The talk around here (Ballarat) when he was drafted was that he was a good kid, great attitude, but very very green. Heard Danny Frawley say something similar on MMM last week. Would expect him to get a few more games for Melbourne this year and spend a bit of time back at Sandringham to play full games as a KPD.

Looked Good - Backed himself on a couple of occassions.

Love to see him in the same backline as Rivers for the next decade.

Was not afraid to put physical pressure on Perrie, a much bigger season hardened body.

Must play EVERY game.

I like him. defintely got pace and our backline worked much better yesterday as he and Bell had the pace to just keep their forwards honest without allowing the usually Adelaide keepings of game.

Looks like he has the body type to build up nicely. His kicking style looks a bit awkward but can kick it long. Definitely play him as much as possible.

Just watched the game again. Frawley did only a couple of things, and already I look at him and can see EXACTLY why the recruiters went nuts very late in the piece at last year's draft. He's a custom-built speedy tall defender...

I think I'm going to call him commodore... or maybe HSV. Commodores aren't the quickest cars on the road, nor do they drive the best... but what they have is USEFUL speed. Accelleration off the mark that will get you where you need to be between lights. Maybe they get shaky after 100kph, but who cares? You rarely need to go faster than that anyway.

Frawley just moves beautifully. I'm sure he's not the quickest in the team, but he reaches top pace quite quickly, finding space which relieves the pressure on his kicking, making him likely to be more effective as a consequence.

Don't know if any of that made any sense... But I think his pace, coupled with height, positional flexibility, kicking distance, strength and footy nous in the scrimmages are what made the recruiters look at him...

I thought he showed great potential. Would have been feeling great amount of pressure after last weeks defeat but still backed himself, shows great determination and spirit. Early signs are very good.

Looked much better than the week before, worth persisting with for a few rounds, if he keeps improving he may become a regular

I was lucky enough to only be able to catch last weeks game on the radio, so Frawley for me is only what he showed us against Adelaide.

I like. I like very much. I saw a comparison with the kind of effort and initiative we see from Paul Johnson. Good attitudes from these guys, enough indivuals like that and a whole team culture hits an upward spiral.

Exciting thought that soon the Demon's defense could be their strong suit. Will take time to happen, which is just as well because it'll take a while for anyone to believe their eyes!

Touch wood and all that.

I reckon he'll play nine games this year - so he's still eligible for Rising star next year!

It was great to see him be given a specific task this week.......

Because we can now see that he has the makings to become exactly what we need -a traditional tall defender.

As for what I think of him. I think he will be good, if not better, in time.

But I am not sure if we have seen enough of him yet (more games he gets now the better) to make a totally comprehensive decision.

Time will always tell, but the signs are definitely good :) !!!

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
