Yes it’s been another Tim Lamb deal. McAdam. 3 year contract.  Cannot kick 35 metres. Cannot chase. Cannot tackle. No second efforts.  Can kick a mercurial snap goal.  Can take a 1 in 10 screamer attempt.

Is there a massive disconnect between Lamb and Goodwin? All of the players we've recruited since the flag either can't get a game or are off the list altogether.

His failure to kick from 40 metres out was staggering in his brief appearances with us.

I recall he nailed a shot on the boundary at Kardinia Park in 2022 or 2023 where the 50 meets the boundary line. One of the toughest kicks in footy.

I'm not giving up hope, but if he's in and out of rehab again all summer, then it will be 2024 all over again.

Can only hope he was unfit/injured this year. His lack of penetration when kicking was is a real concern. Spargo would kick further.

We've been playing moneyball the last few seasons. Not h ad the cap space to attract serious talent, hence Hunter, McAdam, Schache, Billings, etc speculative & inexpensive

Grundy wouldn't have been an option if not for the Pies paying 50%

We made an error.

Not great list management from us if we left ourselves in a spot where we couldn't attract anything that could have made us better.

If you want to chase dynasties you have to add to what you already have. See Richmond with Lynch and Hawthorn with Lake and Frawley.

We've lost a lot more than we've added over the past few years.

We backed ourselves to get him fit, which I always thought was strange when even Burgess couldn't do that at Adelaide.

Ultimately at almost 30, it seems very unlikely that he will ever be able to get his body to a good enough position to play consistent AFL football.

If he doesn't have a ripping pre-season, we can say that this trade was a complete bust.

We did that pre 21, Brown, May, Langdon, Lever. Those deals plus expensive reisginings, Tracc, Oliver, Brawyshaw, Kozzy doesn't leave much in the bank

Yes then you turn to young and hungry VFL players with an upwards trajectory.  All would’ve been reasonable low cash.

Not recruits players (like we did) who are on downwards cycle and still in contracts $$$ higher than normal.

When you add Dunstan, Schache, Fullarton & Billings to our recent trading it means disastrous list management. Its a net loss when you consider who we traded out.

We should be asking questions of who was responsible.

We’ve had a pretty strong side for years, players like Harmes & Jordan couldn’t get a game. We need to remember there are 18 teams, some players drafted here knew from the outset they weren’t going to be starting 22. Who did we miss out on? Additionally if a kids been good enough they’ve played as we’ve seen with McVee. There’s only so much talent in the competition, this is why a 19th & 20th team will not work.

Interesting that you make a call on a guys career after 1 year… I’d hate to be your partner and things got bad for a year

In fairness it’s his only year with us. So he doesn’t have runs in the board. If you’re in a new relationship and it did work for a the first 12 months it’s probably time to bail.

How many of them were brought in as depth only players though

That isn't the point. List management is supposed to improve the list not make it worse. Trading out Hunt, Bedford, Harmes & Jordon & trading in Schache, Dunstan, Fullarton & Billings has made us demonstrably worse.

Go through the Hawthorn side & you can see that their trading has been brilliant. They have brought in 5-6 traded players who have taken them to the finals this year.

Trading & list management is an art form that can make or break a Club & ours has been dreadful recently.

Not disputing they haven't worked as well as other clubs but it also depends on variables such as recent draftees, bleeding youth, cap space and other factors.  Hawthorn could afford a Chol on their books but could we? We've got a lot of superstars on big money on big term deals, so the depth were cheaper options.

We were basically 3 players down (at a minimum) all season with Spargo, Smith and Gus out. So the depth already being tested.

Losing Jordon as a free agent only hurt us this year cos of Gus retirement, injuries and regression of form.  IF Gus was medically retired before the Trade period I imagine we'd have made a better play at keeping JJ or would have kept Harmes around.  Either way I don't think we're any better or worse for having swapped Harmes for Billings for example.

Dunstan replaced an aging Nathan Jones who slid out of the team and Aaron Vandenberg as depth.

Again not a big difference between Fullarton/Schache compared to the Weid and Mitch Brown era for example.

I miss Hunt as thought he offered some line-breaking speed but the football department wanted to try something else. Were we worse off? Well we missed some of his attributes but think overall it was pretty similar net result having Hunter in the team.

Agree that McAdam in has not worked so far, but still think we cant write him off yet  - And it was sad to losing Bedford as he's turning into a player - but so is Chin with a more consistent run of games etc.

But agree on the whole it's been uninspiring but most of those mentions were depth replacements.

Don't blame the player.  Tim Lamb's selections since 2021 have been (in the main) absolutely shizen.

I'd be getting rid of Lamb to start with before he destroys this list entirely.

Richo has surely run his race also.

New voices / ppl muchly needed.

Time to put a broom through the FD.  No point stopping at Stafford.

Minor tweaks will just see us waste yet another year and go nowhere as a club.  Most likely stagnate or go futher backwards, particularly on the membership fromt.

McAdam will get a chance to redeem himself next season, but may face new competition for the role in the best 22.

What will be interesting is what we do during the national draft. If we add a highly touted draftee who can play that forward role, it will add to the competition for spots in the senior side.

Look at what Windsor did to Billings and Hunters opportunities on the wing. He leapfrogged both of them for the spot in the 22 and would have held it all season to ad he not been injured.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
