I took my partner, my kids and a friend to the MCC members in 22 when we narrowly lost. The rancid, humourless abuse we and others copped including “sit down you stupid c..t” delivered to my partner means I’m unlikely to go. Just can’t be bothered, I love friendly banter at the footy but it’s becoming more and more abusive as the years go by. Sheesh, I sound old!

I usually don't have a problem with other supporters (in MCC) other than at filth matches.

I occasionally have pleasant conversations with opposition supporters ...

I honestly can’t shake the feeling of trepidation for tonight’s game, being at that final with Gus out cold and Oliver rolling him over followed by mass Filth cheering and chanting was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at the footy. I thought I was past it but as the game gets nearer, 😣

I hope the team can turn the tide on this one. Smash the filth!

If you can't see the difference between KPMG and a football club, I'm not sure I can help you. Can't remember KPMG have 90K fans cheer them on when their annual financial results were released. The emotion in footy is why we love it

Spotify on DubDee this is a point that those that suggest footy as being just a business really need to wrap their head around it alot better.

Sure there are some business principles that need to be applied to make sure the books ballance, but it's a 'business model' built on people's passion and loyalty - stuff around with that too much and they might find their revenue streams evaporating.

I do have to say that the way that the best seats at the MCG are sold for our home games to the exclusion or regular MFC members is something that's seen my enthusiasm wane, particularly thus past half season when we have started loosing again as well, as have the cold late night game timeslot that's great for the TV business, but not for me.

Back on the ANB aspect, I do think that if players are going to request trades like this and/or be militant about it, then the club's should have better mechanisms to claw back player payments etc retrospectively.  There needs to be a better disincentive for the players to demand breaking contracts.  But as I've stated elsewhere, in the case of ANB, I think he owes us nothing and helped deliver a flag for us.  And he's going home, not demanding a move to the Magpies, Hawks or Lions for more money or other opportunities.  I think the club gets better rep and ability to attract and retain good players, by treating the ones we have well, reasonably and fairly.

I am sure if you came, you can come sit in the members bays and you won't have to deal with it. There are plenty of empty seats always in M50-M52

I report anyone in black and white who attempts to walk into our section straight to the MCC security and have them removed. Yes I am that level of petty!

I won't go to away games against them anymore, except finals.
I should have made that call a few years ago when I had to report one of their supporters for racially abusing Jetta, but the Gus incident last year was the final straw.

If anyone wants to sit in a Melbourne only area, my 2 Level 2a redlegs seats will be empty. I'll be in the Members so wont be using them.

Sure, love the footy. But drop the idea of owning the lives of a bunch of 28 year olds who really don’t owe you anything

Owning the lives of 28yos?

I just said I wanted him to stay and see out his contract he signed

There would be many blokes on the list that are sacrificing family over footy. Alex chose to leave when he secured a deal in SA and that’s ok. But it’s also ok to acknowledge the others who choose MFC and to point out the fact he could have stayed.

Mate, if he was an accountant at KPMG, and had a young family and chose to go back to Adelaide to work for PwC, do you reckon anyone would say he owes KPMG because they paid him to do his job for 10 years?

Of course not. Why do people think it’s different just because these people are footballers?

One of the more ridiculous takes on here.

ANB is not walking out on us, he is looking after his family who need him more than Melbourne. He is doing the right thing by his family and the club and is an absolute champion.

I'd hate to break this to you because he is a champion and he is doing the right thing but he is indeed walking out on the club. No matter how much of a good bloke and genuine guy he is, it doesn't change the fact is that he's opting out on his contract signed last year to be somewhere else.

Good man, great morals but is choosing to leave.

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
