I could imagine BBO.

I'd happily do 3.5 hour drive on a Sunday for a 1:10pm start on a sunny MCG day with my young fella.

I also miss the traditional 2pm Saturday afternoon slots.

Agree. Afternoon games at the G are way better. I’ve never like Saturday nights. Don’t mind the occasional Friday game, but Saturday arvo and Sunday early is the perfect time slots.

Do you like Saturdays at 1:45, Sundays at 1:10 or 4:40? Because that's what you'll get.

1:45 Saturday would be perfect

Billings should never get another game! Just awful!

Billings is timid with the ball (afraid of making a mistake),  but I thought he was better V Port, altho his Q4 shot at goal was an opportunity lost. He created one goal by kicking over the top into space.

TV! Think of the TV audience on Saturday night!

Saturdays at 1.45 isn’t too bad, Old? It’s only 20 odd minutes away from the best time slot

Well I’m very proud of our boys tonight.  Severely undermanned, but we took it all the way down to the wire!

Severely undermanned?

We’re missing Trac and Leb.

Good effort. The teams skills are below average and some of the decision making is absolutely mind boggling. (ref: TMac and Billings)

Also missing May, but I guess he definitely doesn’t help stop goals so who cares about him 😂

I actually prefer the 3:20 Sunday - time to have lunch nearby and then get settled in.

3 players is not severely undermanned is my point.

Well when two of those players happen to be one of the best players in the game and one of the best defenders in the game, it’s quite something.
Most teams missing their FB and number one player would struggle.
Like if Port didn’t have Butters yesterday or Aliir Aliir I reckon we win.

The carry on from some on here regarding this is ridiculous.

Then there's the May could have stopped a goal or two commentary.

How'd he go stopping goals against Fremantle, West Coast when they smashed us and then close games like GWS where he could have stopped a goal or two when he played.

Remarkable the excuses some go to in lengths.

No it’s not, it’s just missing key players.
I did note well before you did, in this very thread, that our skills and decision making are not good and were why we lost. Just thought I’d remind you that Trac and Windsor are not the only best 22 players we missing yesterday

Jaded. It’s noted. Whilst they are key players - it’s still not “severely undermanned”

I have seen May make blunders like TMac did last night. Howlers. And I’ve seen him make mistakes like Lever did last night too. How many times have you seen the defenders apologize to one another for their f-ups this season? TMac is the clubhouse leader!

And well done for noting well before I did that our poor skills and decision making were very costly. Would you like a medal? 🏅

Oh god. Enough with the in fighting over such trivial things.

The wording of 'Severely undermanned' vs 'missing key players'. Who cares.

Having Trac, Windsor and May might have made the difference in a tight game, or maybe it wouldn't have!

If you want to be critical of the team thats fine. We're all frustrated with where we're at currently and giving our own two cents and different perspectives can be interesting in working through it all. But no need to have a go at other posters for things like making 'excuses'. If thats annoying to you thats ok you can disagree and make your point but spare the carry on towards other supporters.

FWIW, Today I watched our first games against Port and Dogs earlier this season. We looked a difference side in our ability to run and spread and break the lines so much better. What a difference fitness makes.

There was also bowey.

And gus and smith.

So six best 23 players not in the side. A quarter of the best team available.

Seven if you include Spargo.

Take six or seven best 23 players from any team and they'd struggle.

Even more so if you add two or three key senior players carrying injury.

Id be happy to day missing six of your best 23 players is severely undermanned.

Different strokes.

Spargo, Smith and Bowey is a stretch. Bowey being your best argument for best 23. But he hasn’t exactly been stellar in ‘24.

And we knew well before the season started that Smith and Gus were no longer..

If you’re happy that last night was indeed a “severely undermanned” fielded team, good for you - I certainly wouldn’t.

Didn't Gus announce his retirement a few weeks before the first game against Sydney? If you want to call that 'well before the season started' then good for you - I certainly wouldn't

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
