Thanks mate.

I'll take that as a concession

Have a nice day

Who has taken that view on this thread?

As usual, you keep making stuff up to suit your own blinkered view

Don't you think you've made enough of a fool of yourself these last few days?

No, not at all

But your good self? Wow!

Sure.

I mean you did clearly state that the club relegated him without a shred of evidence but ok.

No, it’s accountability. The AFL is a business. On-going poor performance is on the Head Coach.

Just easier to blame one

Then going to have to get rid of a lot more than him. It’s just scapegoating

What's your solution? Head to the Winchester and wait for this all to blow over?

Oh don't worry I will. I'm like a dog with a bone on this one

We previously had another sack Goodwin thread that went for about 300 pages ... 2019, 2020 & 2021

He was often hated back then so when he ended up on the bench with Yze upstairs, there were numerous comments about the why's & wherefores

As I said, watch this space, good Sir

Or keep an eye out for the other sack Goodwin thread

The key word, was tapwork.....

For eg; on the weekend, 45 hitouts, 14 to advantage. Cant knock his around the ground domination one bit.

14 hitouts to advantage is well above AFL average. According to Wheelo ratings, here's the HTA averages for 2025:

Witts 11.1
Meek 10.7
O'Brien 10.6
Grundy 10.5
Xerri 10.2
Gawn 9.9
Nankervis 9.6
Goldstein 9.5
Sweet 9.2
Madden 8.7
English 8.3

Gawn's opponent on Sunday, Marshall, averages 6.8.

Why does the coach keep playing them then?

Because there's a power imbalance at the club

He's terrified of backlash

How did Petracca and Oliver behave in the off season?

You'll get used to it ....

All the [censored] media over the past few years probably permeated its way down to the footy department.

The BOD may see offloading Goody a way of distancing himself from the recent past??

Certainly Goody cannot be blamed for the playing list bad luck.

Brayshaw retirement

Jackson to Feo and players with the traded draft picks not yet coming up.

ANB leaving

BB retirement

Tracc and Oliver issues

May and Lever ordinary seasons via injury

Stars getting older.

Sorry Jumbo but I can't in any scenario posit Goodwin in a manner whereby he's immaterial to the methods, performances and outcomes of the players.

It may not be an intended effect but they play one way or another as a result of he being the coach.

I'm hearing you, BB, but I think that there is something rotten in the leafy suburb of East Melbourne

Akin to Worsfold at the WCE, where he lost all imprimatur

Something will give and I believe that the behaviours and actions of our 'leaders' has been atrocious

The coach should be the buck stopper

On the other hand, we have pretty much had a full list this year, easy fixture and great run re injuries, often fielding a team with 15 odd premiership players. Add in Windsor, Langford, Turner as well for promising youngsters.

2021 premiership players with a heavy dose of 4 years of battered bodies syndrome

Those players look cooked

Oh... mate.. Jumbo... there's definitely something afoot, if not amok among the Elms 😉

To say nothing of the resounding silence

Issues within the senior playing group as those issues with Trac around standards and culture last year haven’t mended, they are not connected, coaching issues from Goodwin and footy dept, rumours wether true or not is Goodwin has his favourites and dosent engage with the younger players. The obvious is Goodwin to be moved on but whole footy dept & improve line coaches along. Need to look to trade Oliver..

Would be more like an offload/salary dump with Oliver

As it stands, I highly doubt that any club would want to pay his monstrous salary anyway (rumoured to hit in excess of $1.5Million around 2028/2029)

Could also be that we're stuck with him

Petracca similar but he maybe has more upside

I hope we’re stuck with both of them to be honest, it would be shocking to see them go for not much and then they find form somewhere else tha would hurt a lot.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
