The Giants are still in the running for a wild card finals berth while the Demons have nothing to play for just two years after winning a premiership.

They meet on Saturday at the ungodly hour of 11:35am.

Why so early?

KC do you have any injury news on Hustwaite and Connelly?

Hustwaite was reported to have had a foot stress fracture.

I don’t mind the 2’s kicking the dew off the grass before the main event.  Bad news is that if Dees hold over multiple emergencies Casey will be short handed again….

Both are out for the season with long term injuries which is disappointing for the club as it was hoping that these two would represent the man body of experienced VFL players along with Mitch White. They were basically the replacements for the likes of Jimmy Munro and Matt Buntine and these players are important at AFL aligned clubs for the steadiness and consistency they bring.

Thanks @KC from Casey agree Hustwaite and Connolly were excellent recruits and showed great form in the first 3 games.  Their absence cannot be underestimated given our lack of depth and player turnover.

It appears Ben Brown is unofficially retired.  He had struggled to play two games back to back all year.  In his 5 games (6 goals) , we could see how immobile he’d become and his knees simply are rendering him unable to bend.  Such a shame to see him finish like this.  Given we have Jefferson & Kentfield to develop, it’s probably best that he announce his retirement.

I like how we have recently shifted Schache to CHB to assist the development of Jeffo and Kentfield forward. I actually thought he looked decent down there last week in tough conditions.

Looking forward to a festival of football. Noah Yze and Roy George named on the bench. Pickett reporting on the other side of the fence. But whether the weather will wind, wuther and wrain?

Answer my own question; It’s overcast , very dull and mercifully dry. Wind appears to be a factor leaves boughs and branches moving in the background. Roy George mark but no chocolates.

Jefferson surprisingly good at ground level. Impressive.  Pity the delivery to him is below par. Be nice to see him show off his marking prowess.

Umpires who can’t bounce get out!

Sestan getting amongst it, Casey defence under pressure second GWS goal.

Yze bursting thru pack sets up Fullarton goal. Against the gale.

Tommy Sparrow absolutely decks a bloke! It’s holding the ball. Verrall goal!!

casey is simply not shutting down the space and the uw$ are running into a lot of space

sparrow's lack of defensive running shows a real lack of effort

since i wrote this he's had an extra 6 disposals and 4 clearances, plus a monster tackle that helped set up verrall's goal just now

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
