RECRUIT OF THE YEAR! Serious questions need to be asked of the club...Stuff up of the year

recruiting him for a second rounder or trading him out for second rounder. what’s your specific issue?

clearly he didn’t work as a fwd and clearly we already have the best ruck in the league.

I personally thought he was worth the risk with very limited fwd options to trade in

Or just keep him on the list to stop a contender from having an awesome ruck? Wasn't costing us a fortune...

Ur kidding? He is at least equal if not better Ruckman than Gawn. Go look at the stats!

no point keeping him on the list when neither he or Max could play forward.

if you want to be critical then have a pop at the club for trading him in. Trading him out was the right thing to do.

If he is the recruit of the year then more power to the Swans. The guy is 2 x AA, more than handy.

Why is it a big indictment on us?

Because it is Pot The Club Week and nothing is exempt.

Collingwood signed him to a 10 year deal and mis-counted the money and had to ship him out for almost nothing with 5 years to go

you think anyone would come to us if we keep players against their will?

can we be real?

Should be more laughing at them!

Don't be effing ridiculous.

As for your original post: how many times does it need to be said?- he is a good ruckman when, and only when, he is the main man. The same is true of Gawn. And the idea of keeping him at Casey just so he didn't  go elsewhere: that is a really generous, good-culture thing to  do - not!  Not even Collingwood descended to that. Do you want us to be lower than them?

Hnmm so Why WHY would not have we gone with BG as the main man, with Max chop out and play MAX more forward???????

Im not so sure!

James Jordan has been ok for them as well.

Because it is a waste of Max. He is capable of taking a big mark in the forward line occasionally, and if he is 50+ metres out he might kick the goal, but he is a key player as a ruckman  - his tap work, his goal-saving marks in defence, his marking between half back and wing as we come out of defence - these are all the work of s ruckman. Oh, and I forgot the clearances where he kicks it out of the centre himself.

Which is why he has been 6 times AA ruckman.

No it wasn't

Just [censored] off we couldn’t get him on the park whatever the role during the finals last season. Why did it come to why he could not play? Cost us big time.

Not to Sydney it wasn’t.

We should have traded him to a lowly Club if he was unhappy.

There must be some responsibility in a signature when signing a 4 year contract

What would you do with Grundy if he was still with us?

  • Author

Play him as main Ruck and play Max full forward with Kossy at his heels and clear the forward 50

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
