Looking at the Cats v Blues game (which is a ripper to watch) I reckon 5 teams are now positioned to be genuine contenders. Cats, Blues, Giants, Swans and Dees. I feel there is a gap after this. All 5 have shown finals winning football. It is about bringing both pressure AND skills together in a game on the day, and any of the 5 can beat the other team if they bring these two components on the day.

Can't wait for us to play Blues & Cats - should be great games.

A flag & 3 top 4 finishes and yet our club can’t attract a gun fwd, watching Camero, the  blues fwds & the best we can do is Brown with a banged knee and fortunate it lasted in 2021.

Who do you suggest we should have recruited?

May be premature to be definitive about us. In two weeks we will know I reckon.

The Grundy idea seemed like a good idea at the time. But yeah there did seem to be nobody available.

I feel pretty good about our top 4 aspirations, especially based on our defensive strength. We rarely get 80 points scored against us, and we have a LOT of improvement available.

It’s been an issue since we lost Hogan & yes we got May, the Grundy deal was a disaster! Did we look at Peter Wright? Did we go hard at any of the king bros? It just appeared our recruiters were not looking to draft any kpp fwds

This is such a good game for us - an opportunity for the coaches to really study the weaknesses in these teams. Geelong clearly have a powerful forward line but their rucks and mids are getting thrashed. We need to exploit that. With Carlton, they are doing a great job of getting good attacking clearances from the middle. We need to make sure we have a defensive sweeper at centre bounces - perhaps they could give that role to Sparrow. But it is all on display for us to learn from.

No chance Danger plays next week if he’s got even a slight hamstring awareness. With his history and at his age, they won’t risk it.

They have one of the best fixture.

Have had for the last 20 years. Their fixture alone will get them into finals pretty much every year

dead to me shut up GIF

A packed MCG is  an awesome sight

Is that music played at the ground?

It would drive me over the edge.

They play to their strengths. Move the ball better than any team.

Carlton win clearances and contested ball but it is chaos and must be so taxing physically. Cats sit off.

If Melb. are to beat them our outside runners are going to have to have a day out.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
