Isn't that great, big load of stress of his shoulders.

Congratulations to Ardu, Koz, and the family.

Kozzie did look happy and relieved today, as you said… a big load off his shoulders.

Incidentally,  it’s interesting that generally these days men don’t become dads at such a young age. But in the footy world it’s not out of the ordinary for players to become fathers in their early to mid 20s. I’m guessing being financially stable factors into this 🤷‍♀️

Interested to know if you have much of an opinion on Laurie? I know you get to training so would appreciate your honest opinion.

Haven't been since the season started but what I saw over summer was a player who was leaner, fitter, faster and more decisive with the ball with some real class at times.

His practice game against Carlton was very strong, then he had a stinker against Sydney in round 1.

I don't think he's all that far away from being a useful contributor but it's going to take a few small improvements (especially nailing tackles and not getting caught flat footed on transition) as well as the side either getting their ball movement game up to the level that utilises half forwards in space, or giving Laurie high half forward/on ball opportunities so he can offer something at stoppages.

Thanks. I hope he isn't names as sub and can get a few games under his belt to build some confidence at the top level.

Additional: It looked like they were structuring for and executing fast ball movement through the corridors direcrly off half-back, and/or from lateral spread/switches.

Moniz-Wakefield was at training but not participating, had a different coloured top on as compared to the rest of the MFC Casey players.

A shame if he’s injured. Would love to hear he’s the carry over emergency though.

That’s all well n good. Now for the important stuff 😁

Ardu and Kozzie are the proud parents of a healthy baby girl, as yet unnamed. Born last Thursday. Kozzie described the feeling as “unreal” 🥹

Ollie Sestán’s nickname at the Club is Sesto. His surname is pronounced  Chestahn. He’s Croatian/Italian. His parents are (in his own words) Aussie AF.

Melksy’s little boy, Teddy, barracks for the Demons and his favourite player is… Fritta. 😅

According to Chocco, Bowsa is closer to being right to go than we think. He was practicing tackling with one of the trainers and was not holding back. He was going in hard. You wouldn’t know he’d broken his collarbone relatively recently. Chocco was watching on, very pleased.

Clarrie was in a serious frame of mind today. Not unhappy or angry, but super immersed in everything be did. His concentration and focus was unwavering and really impressive.

Back to nicknames… Knuckles McVee LOVES his nickname so it’s here to stay.

I unwittingly changed JB14’s nickname from ‘Jubba’ to ‘Jibba’ 🤭 (long story).

And while Shane Mc said he doesn’t mind ‘Smacka’’ his demeanour said ‘You know where you can stick your Smacka’ 😁 He’s pumped to be playing tomorrow. This I know for sure because when I said, “Hey how’re ya going, Shane!” He replied, “I’m playing tomorrow!” Then he said, “Great! How are you?” 😂

Little red(& blue) head lady you are a treasure. I always look forward to ready your comments.

This one is another of your greats.

Thanks so much

Remember that Chandler took a number of games to get going ,when he came up to the first ,after starring in VFL

Seems it will either be Laurie as sub for fresh midfield legs, Disco forward with the ability to swing if we need a change.

Or, Tracc forward (post centre bounce) with Laurie forward/mid and Disco sub.

Weather might play a role.

Super warm the last 2 days so might be rain coming although forecast suggests not.

It’s far from an ideal prep for Disco, one Casey game after a decent lay off. But before you knock it I’d ask, did you watch the VFL game?

Thanks kev for your usual insightful analysis

From those who trained who would be HBF for Salem?

I am not sure I like the suggestions from some of moving Duke or Langdon there - have they been there before?  Woey though no fault of his own was not up to scratch as his in game replacement.  Maybe Disco?

Looks like Woewodin will fill those big boots.

He stayed with the backs, from the time he left AAMI, till the return.

They have a great backline system and being new to the big men's club, he will need sometime to know the role.

I think he will be the one most likely to play like Hibbo. He is bulking up well and developing a physical presence.

I think he will develop really well into the role. In fact, I think he will thrive just having a role.

High hopes for Woey. Just might need some time.

I'm good with it for now. Whoever is in there will need time to learn on the job.

Woey just needs games at this point, progress won't always be linear but worth persisting with IMO.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
