Our recruiters must again be lauded if we have our two top picks playing regular minutes for the year. Fingers crossed Kolt gets his debut.

MFC Casey players are out now.

All rehabbers have joined them, Marty, McAdam, Melky, Bowey, Sestan.

Sestan has some left shoulder strapping.

McAdam doing well. Accelerating with power and some beautiful shimmies and cutting lines in a handball comp/drill.

No, not Marty. Trainers call him out, he wanted to be in the drills, but no. Also, not Bowey. Though they both play in the structural sims.

White caps are Sestan and Turner, (no tackling).

Hunter doing some instructions when the sims breaks.

The squad is looking classy, rarely any errors.

McAdam is looking the goods, (in the sim), running hard defensively and when attacking.

Schache is playing well.

Jefferson gets lost at times, needs more work on his decisions and intention. When he has space, he kills it with skills.

Andy Moniz-Wakefield is in the backline.

Wonder if Kolt debut as a sub is on the cards, with Woewodin coming into the 22.

That seems logical given the need for Woewodin to get some much needed game time. He's averaged 14% of game time this year in the seniors.

Unlike others, I'm not against a debutant starting as sub. Whatever works best for the team and I'd imagine Kolt would rather start as the sub on the big Thursday night stage as opposed to playing a full game at Port Melbourne on the weekend.

Any sign of Pup Brown?  Had it on good authority that he was close to best on in the praccyagainst Carlton.

He is with the  MFC Casey Squad.

Moniz a minor calf setback but apparently now good to go with Casey this week

Hmmmm. Weren’t you right next to me when I asked Chocco to blink once if Kolt’s in this week? Remember? He squeezed his eyes shut so tightly… and only once. 🥳

Smacca McAdam right to go post the bye.  Possibly via Casey?

Haha ...for your eyes only!  It certainly looked like Choco to me if that was him blinking 😅

Oh, he was blinking… he was definitely blinking. And my eyesight may leave a lot to be desired but that was definitely Chocco. 😅

I don’t think we’ve ever done that with a debutant. I hope it stays that way.

At last a pic of you

A group of kids from Herman’s Bay, west of Alice Springs were at training. They got to meet the players for pics etc. First time out of NT for them, and tomorrow night they’ll be at the game. They were extremely shy. I made them feel welcome (and a little scared maybe) and their guide translated for us, mostly smack talk since not one of them barracks for the Dees. 😅 Diehard Crows, Freo, WCE fans and a couple of Lions fans(!)

Anyways, this is me with Nicholas (their guide), Joel, Byron, and Leo (the tall boy) who gets to toss the coin tomorrow night. I told him I’ll be watching from the front row and if Maxy doesn’t win the toss, he’ll have me to answer to. 😠 He knew I was kidding… I hope.

Note cheeky bugger Byron isn’t wearing the scarf the Club gave him. It was in his hoodie pocket. He’s a passionate Lions fan so that’s where the scarf stayed, even during pic-taking. Gotta love the dedication 😊

the new BIG SHOW

If Kolt is in you would presume he would know early to give his family time to come over to watch his debut game.

l like it. Tough on Bailey Laurie who has been in and out and hasn’t had a settled run at it. Was good in the game against the swans last year but hasn’t really grasped his limited opportunities when presented. Time for someone else to get a chance.

Would be cruel to get his family over from Esperance last minute only to run him for 5 mins at the end of the 4th quarter

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
