No, he has done nothing so far… That’s the whole point. He has an extra year. 2024 he must perform

done nothing? drafted very well, made finals, developed players and a culture. So until he wins a flag he’s on 1 year deals?

they were a rabble before he came

Flogmantle are still downhill skiers, last year they were put under pressure and they fell over very easily.
They are still Meth Cokes little brother

So Redman gets a week for the push punch to a Hawks player and yet Zac Williams gets nothing for his push punch to Neale the week before.

Carlton lawyer at it again. Now before you all remind me that Williams push punch slid up Neales shoulder to make contact to the head, one just has to look at the AFL handling of the bump: player.l beware If you elect to push punch , you take the risk that if any head contact t is made, you should be made to have a one week holiday.

The big surprise of the season so far is how poor the Lions and pies have been.

I don't think the pies are top 4 material and the way the Lions have gone wouldn't surprise me if they miss top 4 as well.

Brisbane has the bye next week and Collingwood have the Saints. If the Saints can win then it will be Grand Finalists Collingwood 0-3 vs Brisbane 0-2 in Brisbane the following week.

why is there two teams having the bye the next two weeks??

byes after round 1? wtf

the AFL fixture is just getting worse and worse

BrisVegas playing Collingwood next in Round 3, would be great to see both winless heading towards this match.

Well, lions will be. They have a bye this week.

Things I'd love to see:

The saints roll the pies on Thursday night in knock down, physical scrap.

And then, tired and sore, go to a hot, steamy gabba a week later and get blown away by the lions who will be fired up and coming of a ten day break.

And, exhausted, fly back to Melbourne.

Fly out a week or so later to play a HOME GAME at Adelaide oval on the Sunday (at 5pm) against a hawks team that runs them into the ground and beats the pies in a thriller.

Meaning the pies, who have a bye in round 5 would winless coming into round six when they face port at the g.

What would you have the club have done? Throw stupid money at who exactly last trade period?

To trade in a A grade forward they one, have to be available, and two affordable vis a vis our salary cap.

Who fit both criteria last trading period?

Seriously, sometime i think some people just whack the club for their own amusement.

It's not just about last year's draft period, but several leading up to it as well.

Sure there is BBB & TMAC (both 31 & injury prone) at one end of their careers, Petty (injury prone) and JVR (20) are at the other. We have no KPF's who can consistently be relied upon on our list in the 24-30 age bracket. That is where we are lacking and it shows.

You say we shouldnt throw stupid money, i counter with how much a premiership is worth to you? Our list is only going to seriously contend for a year or 2 more with the likes of Gawn, May, Trac and Viney in their peak or getting towards the back end of it. We're then going to either need a small or full re-build depend on just how good our depth and development is.

I say we should have a huge shot at Ben King. JVR can be our CHF, with Kozzie, Fritta, Chandler and hopefully McAdam all roving the crumbs or playing on lesser forwards. Strike while the iron is hot.

The eight teams who played in opening round each get a bye sometime in rounds 2-6. That way, by round seven, all 18 Clubs will be on equal number of games played.

Thanks!

or we could not have an opening round??

I enjoyed every minute of last nights pies loss. After that thug caused The end of Gus’s career I will hate them with passion for the rest of my days.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
