PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 31st January 2024

Clayton Oliver is down at training!

He is out early with Gawn doing some simple centre work drills.

Now he is drilling with McQualter, as Goody looks on. During a break Goody comes over to him and they embrace.

What I would love to see,  is him joining the main group when the whistle for collecting together goes off.

They have collected and Oliver is doing his own program.

That is great to hear and see. Lets hope he trains the house down.

What a sight… go get em Clarry 🔥🔥🔥

CLARRIE!!!

I’ve already declared my (our) love for him. I said, “You’re a bloody sight for sore eyes!” He grinned and said, “Yep, I’m back!” 🥰

What is happening with Smith? When is his case decided, if at all?  When could he be back?  Seems to have gone very quiet unless I missed something.

Unbelieve to see the #13 back out there. Go well Clarry ❤️‍🔥

In an otherwise [censored] morning driving to the Alfred, it was bloody awesome seeing Oliver out there.

CLARRY CHOO CHOO🤣😇🤩🤠😎

Now I know why the theory of the universe can be directed unerringly to one single individual.

Rehab: Clarry, Hunter, Melksham, Fullarton, Brown

Absent: Smith

Smith likely to be listed as such for the rest of 24 surely?

Petty out on the field in White talking to an assistant coach with a footy in hand but not training with the main group.

Somewhat concerning.  Hopefully no set back here.  Looking to the rest of the reports from track watchers here with much interest.

I know we'll be better off with a new purpose-built training venue, but how beautiful is it seeing the green grass, the established trees, and Government House in the background? (Oliver in the foreground is a nice bonus, too.)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
