PRACTICE MATCH: Sunday February 18th 2024 @ Casey Fields

Recommended Posts

This is now confirmed. Practice match on Sunday, February 18th vs Richmond at Casey Fields. Start time yet to be decided.

The Demon Army will be putting on a sausage sizzle and we’re thinking it will be a good turnout since this is one of a couple of events this preseason that are essentially in place of a traditional Family Day, and because Richmond fans will no doubt turn up. This will be an important opportunity for us to raise some much-needed funds, too. Those giant heads don’t grow on trees, y’ know. Well, they’re made of paper so I guess they actually do grow on trees but y’all know what I mean. 😁

We need to outnumber the Tigers fans, so please try to come and support our beloved Dees. Let’s make this a wonderful prelude to season 2024!

GO DEES!!!

Good work WCW

Do you know why there was no traditional family day this year? It was a great event last year i thought. I would definitely have brought the kids along this year again.

  • Demonland changed the title to PRACTICE MATCH: Sunday February 18th 2024 @ Casey Fields

We attended the family day out at Casey fields last year and had a great day and it was well attended, should be huge with the Tiges supporters there as well.!!

Maybe because our preseason is effectively a week shorter ?

That’s the reason. Our first match is two weeks earlier than in previous seasons, yet we still have two practice matches scheduled. Instead of a Family Day, we’re having a sausage sizzle, activities for kids etc. at both practice matches. The aspect of Family Day that appeals to many, ie. getting pics with and autographs from players, is something the Club will decide. And whereas we know the practice match vs Carlton at Ikon is a ticketed event, we’ve not yet been told if the same applies at the vs Richmond at Casey match.

Disappiontingly, will be in Apollo Bay at this time, and would have looked forward to two double snag delights with onions and that special recipe WCW Sauce! Made to a recipe, not just a price🤩

But never fear..... I should be out and about in slthera land this Monday, I hope!

The real question @WalkingCivilWar

Will there be Cupcakes in the DA tent?

I hope so!!! How good are those cupcakes?! I’m pretty sure they’ll be on offer at both practice matches. 😋

Also, @picket fence… I’m always “Till B!ttch” at our BBQs. I’ve only been on cooking duties once and never will be allowed again since it seems not many folks like their snags well-done, and by well-done I meant burnt beyond recognition. Go figure 🤷‍♀️

I did cooking duties at the original(?) Gosch's and QB Fed Sq barbies.

Pressure!

Interesting that it is against Richmond where they have Yze as Coach and we have McQualter in our den. Should make for an interesting fight.

[censored] I'd love to go and watch, sounds like a good way to spend a Sunday, but Casey Fields is such a pain in the backside to get too... hope we get to see plenty of our new names running around and get given some real game time.

Defs drive there. The carpark is big and it’s right next to the ground.

Why so early? Is there a banner for practice games or will there be a BBQ?

A BBQ. It takes a while to set up and we wanna be ready for the first wave of people since this is an opportunity to raise funds (in the absence of an official Family Day).  But a banner for practice games would be funny 😆

I got super excited this weekend when I realised our first hit out is only two weeks away!

It’ll be here before we know it, Stu!

Seven quarters where we’ll get to see everyone in action.

Recent history says Richmond supporters will turn up in big numbers.

So we need as many of our supporters as possible to attend! Yes folks can watch it at home on Kayo, but our players can’t see/hear them. If you ask our boys (and girls), they’ll tell you it makes a world of difference when they know we’re there, and I know because I’ve asked them, of course I’ve asked them. 😅

This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds.
