Continued the growth in his stature at the club, showing his versatility in defence mixed with some good runs in the middle. Watch out for him in 2024.

Trent Rivers another great pickup for the club, just keeps on getting better in every aspect of his game. Tough, courageous, skilled and a loveable member of our team, my wife picked him on draft night to be a real winner for us and she was right. Seeing him hold the Cup and saying we want another one next year was so refreshing.

Potentially an absolute gun. Play this bloke in the midfield he has the ability to step up.

Well said CF.

One of my favorite players

Don't think we've seen his best yet either.

Could do a lot of damage in the middle with his burst of pace and ability to find players by foot.

Keen to see him develop some more this year. Him, Petty, Jvr and Kozzie.

Had a break out year. Hoyne was correct in bringing him up as one of our most dangerous weapons towards the end of the year with his penetrative kicking that was hitting targets better than anyone else on our team. The opposition noticed and put the clamp on him. All the more important to have some other break out players who can step up, and give us similar run and disposal, so we have more weapons in our arsenal, If Rivers dont get ya, _____ will! etc

Hard to believe he's still only 22 years old

An enormous future on the back of really stepping it up last season

Agree with others, he needs midfield time

Rivers, Sparrow & McVee are the future and all 3 are capable of being creative and dynamic.  If Bowey, Salem & Langdon get their mojo back as well, lookout

I would absolutely be putting Rivers in the centre square this year. Great player.

Will rip the game apart this year

His body has matured and will put his name forward to be an elite player this season.

Like Sparrow his powerful boot makes him a real threat playing in the midfield. No concerns about connecting with the forwards when you can have a shot from 60 metres.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
