Taken in the 2021 midseason draft, the young improving defender signed a two-year contract extension in July. He was recently upgraded to the senior list for 2024 and is expected to advance further now that he has experienced a taste of football at its highest level.

I think we missed a trick not playing Disco Turner earlier in the season in 2023. I hope he is given the opportunity to start the year in the AFL in 2024. I think he has all the ingredients to be a very good player.

Looking forward to seeing Disco Turner earn some regular game time in 2024 been loving the feedback from the regular Casey watchers. Daniel is a good size and possibly could hold down the critical Michael Hibberd role but not sure about his explosiveness.

An astute addition to the senior list. Shown plenty of ability at VFL level, the challenge of course is to produce at AFL level. Some extended opportunity there will indubitably assist that transition.

You'd imagine Tomlinson and Turner (both 194 cm) will be competing with each other for that third tall defender spot behind May and Lever. Can't see our weekly backline containing all four players.

Arguably stiff to be dropped for the Pies final after a very encouraging round 24 game in which the stakes were high for Sydney.

Likely more like 92/94kg now. Coachs' think highly of him.

Talls take longer to develop. In the past when our list was not so strong talls would be rushed in before time.

Now we let them develop via Casey which is good. JVR is an AFL exception for talls. They do not usually show what he has in his 2nd season. It was just as well we resisted the temptation to play his early.

Agree B-B-P that was Disco’s best performance at senior level. Got the attention of some of the Ch7 commentators too.

Couldn't agree more.

Really hope he gets a clear run at it next year.

Simliar situation for him as JVR early this year. Probably should have got a game for the finals, dropped after a good game against Sydney, so should be in the frame for round one. and its Sydney up there again. He looks ready to go.

Poor guy hasn’t had any consistent opportunities - injured in his debut, mismatched in his second game and dropped after a pretty good performance in his third.
I really hope he is given some consecutive games early in 2024.

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
