If I can mix fandoms (though one at least is a bit suspect these days), number 6 is becoming our Defense Against the Dark Arts number these days - someone comes in, wears it and leaves again quick smart.

Well spotted, 31! Perhaps it should be retired, having (since Matthew Bate) adorned Mitch Clark, Chris Dawes, Jordan Lewis, Luke Jackson and Brodie Grundy!

Mitch Clark had jumper number #11 as I recall.

But yes, it would be nice for a new Demons player to have jumper number #6 for a significant amount of time.

Jack Billings wore jumper number #15. So therefore, he could possibly move to #14 or to whatever number is available.

(1) Supremely correct 🙂 Thanks!

(2) Frankly*, yes!

* Adams or Davis for the younger among you!

With some trepidation, I extend @Stretch Johnson's original line of thought, over on the Billings thread, to suggest #28 (or thereabouts?)

Yeah I meant 4 don't know what I was thinking.

4. Harley Reid - Would be fitting having Jack Watts present him his jumper.

6. Vacant. Potential new number for McVee if he wants it.

14. Jack Billings (wore 15 at St Kilda)

23. Shane McAdam (same number as at Adelaide)

27. Kynan Brown (reckon we'll grab him with our pick 42. Close to Nathan's old number)

34. Tom Fullerton (because)

39. Rookie pick.

Many thanks, Tilly!

I went looking for it but couldn't find it. You'd think it would've been in at least one of the longer online 'top' lists!

I hope I got close from memory😁

In the Amos I was no 10. Didn't care for it much and Amos being Amos there were no Jumpers for every round under the Sun and so, one day when playing our arch enemies ""The Bloods"I got my jumper ripped to shreds when I had.. Er an altercation with several of their players, Result the Only Jumper left at the bottom of the Bag which smelled like Mouse and Cockroach infested with a bit of Slithera Venom mixed with other Secretions which one could only imagine was this Moth eaten thing .... no 73. Anyway I played a cracker of a game in this thing, wondering why no one would come near me and so paid for a New Jumper proudly wearing No 73. Moral of the story..... 7 and 3 make!

I made the number 24 famous at the combine Tooronga Malvern.  Perhaps the worst player to wear it !!!

...where I was, '72 to '76.

But we were so nice! I'm sorry to hear we developed arch enemies!

Who were you? (in quite a solid career, it looks like!)

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
