Getting in very early with the next round's edition (and apologies if this should be on the other board - over to you, @Demonland if so) but this in today's Age needed posting:

Adelaide midfielder Eloise Jones, prior to their game against GC on Sunday: 'Our home run is going to be really hard, we've got some really great teams coming up, [including] Brisbane, North Melbourne.'

Something being repressed there, Eloise?

From Thursday, we may have that remarkable clean sheet. The ultimate 'nice headache for the selection committee to have' awaits!

I hope we can still bring our chairs.

We definitely are permitted to bring chairs. That ridiculous no chairs rule was overturned.

Huge game clearly. We need to win this to keep our chances of a Victorian grand final in our own hands. If Adelaide jumps us on the ladder, we no longer control our destiny. Not to say we can't win over there, but it would be nice for local fans to be able to attend (if/when we make it).

I think this is important.

It would be great to see a GF here.

I think we would draw a big crowd if we made it through to a home GF.

That was the same meeting where the no bananas rule was repealed and the no live music rule was abandoned.

I'm riding hard on the 'undefeated record-breaking season' wagon, so for me every game is absolutely crucial!

I'm hugely invested in it. Once I got a taste of the possibility, I've wanted it more and more every time I think about it.

I see what you did there 😉

I missed out on last season’s grand final as I simply couldn’t afford to go. To see one live would be amazing. Ikon will be rocking!!! ❤️💙

Not if we get to 'Standing room only'!

You may need to go into your account, click on ‘my attachments’ and delete pics that you’ve previously posted but no longer need, thereby restoring your pic allowance. 👍🏽

How bloody good is this?! Only two names on the injury list and both those players are expected to be given the all clear. 🥳

Harris and Fitzsimon in.

GC omitted 😒 and Paxy out injured

See club website for details. Wouldn't let me copy the link

Going to be a great game. 2 best teams going head-to-head. Really looking forward to this one, particularly after the ****show over the last 48 hours.

hopefully Paxy injury not serious.

Paxy sustained an injury while at home playing with her dog. They’re saying it was an innocuous action and that it’s not too serious.

I had the same issue but found a workaround that I've already forgotten! I probably do need to clear out my attachments as WCW suggested.

And then a player gets injured (thankfully in a minor way) playing with their dog! Classic mystery injury of the week stuff!

Some good ins. Campbell will be back as match-ups requite, I'd imagine. Fitzy gets a good opportunity. Hopefully Harris is fresh and ready.

I just left banner making and geez, how refreshing it was to spend a few hours with other Dees fans without a single word uttered by anyone about the last 48 hours. We talked about this Saturday’s match and future W matches and pretty much all things AFLW. It was so good.

A little background to the game...

Melbourne's win-loss record against Adelaide: 5-4 (After 3 straight losses between the 2021 PF and the 2022A GF, Melbourne beat Adelaide twice in 2022B)
Adelaide's 2023 formline: Adelaide come into Round 6 undefeated, having beaten the currently 5th, 7th, 9th, 14th and 18th-ranked teams (this compares to Melbourne's wins against 6th, 11th, 15th, 17th and 18th)

Average games experience for the selected teams: Melbourne 42.3, Adelaide 35.8.
Players with
61+ games Melb: 5 Adel: 3
41-60 Melb: 8 Adel: 3
21-40 Melb: 6 Adel: 10
1-20 Melb 2 Adel: 5

At season mid-point, having a look at the individual stats leaderboards, Melbourne players aren't prominent but do dominate the avg. score involvements, with 6 of the top 10 being Demons: Hore (9.4), Hanks (7.2), Paxman (6.5), Purcell (6.0), Zanker (5.6) and Harris (5.5). Two Adelaide players feature, Hatchard in second place (7.2) and Marinoff (5.4) rounding out the top 10.

We’ve played Adelaide at Casey on three occasions for two wins and one loss. After Saturday it’ll be 3-1. 😉

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
