Fascinated to see if Maynard tries to jump on Steven May at the first opportunity in next year's KB match like he did on Ed Langdon in last year's ...

Maynard only attacks those who he knows he is stronger than, or who are wide open and can’t protect themselves. Like a coward.

If he tries going for May it won’t end well for him.

Frankly, I’m surprised that any Dees fan would have an issue with this.

He admitted he’d had more to drink than he would’ve had he known he’d be interviewed.

We all want honesty, right? Not the tired, worn-out clichés. We got that.

It was in the presence of the faithful at our own B&F. A gag-free environment, as it should be.

Maysie believes we’re better than Collingwood. That’s HIS opinion and he’s more than entitled to express it.

And finally, who gives a fat rat’s what *Collingwood thinks???

*A team that harbours malicious thugs and filthy sex offenders and had a cheer squad run by a registered child sex offender on their watch. You really value their take on what Maysie said?

He didn't call them "guys"

It started with "P" and sounded like "tricks"

Good on him. Time to put RDBs quote into action.

If we had lost a Preliminary Final to The Filth by 1 point at the 35 minute mark, then i have no problem with any comment.
But that is not what happened, we were beaten twice on our own turf.
It’s head down [censored] up time to work hard and get better.
We are not the best list in the game

how is the form of Mr Ed since he made his Duck remark about The Filth?

Would have been better for all if that hadn’t been said

You could argue that GWS may have been the best side playing finals.

I think they came closer to beating the pies than the Lions and played with more pressure.

Not receiving one free kick in the last quarter is really going to make it hard for you.

A Brisbane supporter summed it up for me.

If you're playing the pies in a final at the MCG, you want to have them beaten by 3qtr time.

If it's close in that last quarter, the crowds and the umps are almost always Gunna get them home.

P.S. we really need to sort out our forward entries and faster ball movement.

If we were kicking it into an open, leading forward line this year, we would have had a lot of teams done by 3qtr time.

Inaccurate kicking is a secondary thing because we'd be taking more set shots in better positions with a better open forward line.

Fact remains is that he hasn’t been nearly as effective as he was before the comments were made

In the 35 games prior to the "All duck and no dinner" game, Langdon averaged 22 disposals per game.

In the 35 games after that game, leading up to this year's QF against Collingwood, Langdon averaged 20 disposals per game.

So the fact is he has been nearly as effective as he was before the comments were made and I think the effect of the comments has been grossly overstated in the Media. I suggest the slight drop in Langdon's average is related to the acquisition of Hunter and the alternative Hunter provides.

It’s not the amount of disposals he has had, that is the problem. It is what he does with them. In 2021 Mr Ed was a Gun of the Competition, he and Angus changed the perception of Wingers.
That is not the case now. I want Ed back to that level

Brayshaw needs to go back to the wing, his time in the midfield should be finished

And also because clubs put much more time and effort into stopping him, as they know how important he is to our game plan.

To be fair May would be a huge loss if taken out of the game with a head high hit. Probably the second player behind Gawn I would target if I was a thug.

As for Bradbury, he was genuinely good enough to make the final. Luck saw him win the final. Imo, not totally dissimilar to Collingwood’s experience.

Just a little digression... Bradbury won that gold medal in his fourth Olympics, after recovering from breaking his back in a crash two years beforehand.  Doctors told him he'd never skate again!  But what a comeback!

He's got more in common with our Eliza Mc than Collingwood 😊

P.S. strategy helped him win, he knew he couldn't beat the others on pure speed but figured they'd skate uber aggressively and have a crash

Yes and in 2 previous Olympics Bradbury was highly rated and heavily favoured to medal (or win) but hit the deck both times in identical fashion to what happened to his competitors when he won

What goes around comes around (in this case, quite literally)

Maysie or Maxy would’ve been ideal but the thug saw the opportunity to take out Gus and pounced on it… literally. After all, he didn’t know for sure he’d get an opportunity to flatten anyone in particular so he took the chance with the first situation which presented itself.

If you were a thug you’d take out Max. If I was a thug, so would I. But Maynard’s not just any old thug, he’s a gutless thug, therefore an unaware player running at speed concentrating 100% on disposing of the ball was perfect for him.

Oh, by no means am I minimising Bradbury’s feats. I’m a huge fan of his, and his story is one of courage and hard work paying off. He deserves Olympic gold. But as much as he might’ve guessed his opponents would skate too aggressively, he couldn’t possibly have made it happen, therefore there was an element of luck in play.

It's the sort of sport where the skaters consistently fall or trip each other up

So when he won, he'd lost the speed in his legs which turned out to be an advantage as he was always going to be off the pace (in the SF & Final)

He also won his SF in the same manner and wasn't even expected to advance to the final ... so he lucked out twice after being dreadfully unlucky in previous Olympics

Most people would be unaware of all the details but who follows short course speed skating?

But 'Doing a Bradbury' has become folklore now

As for how it relates to the Demons?

At the end of 2020 not many of us here were envisaging a flag in 2021 ... in fact, most wanted the coach gone and a flag seemed a million miles away (save for the views of the extreme optimists)

But we won and now we get annoyed that we haven't won another one yet!!

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
