I feel like in a survey of 100,000 AFL fans who aren’t Collingwood supporters, 90%+ would say they dislike the Pies. Have you ever been to a game against them? I have.

Their fans are vile. Their ex president is vile. Their organization supported systemic racism for decades. They applaud thugs like Maynard and Cox and sex offenders like De Goey, while they cheer opposition players laying unconscious on the ground.

The only embarrassing nonsense is you trying to convince a forum of Melbourne fans that Collingwood is not a despicable team and that we should somehow be happy they won a premiership?

The only way to cope with these disastrous situations is to take immediate evasive action, mute the TV so as to avoid that "Good old..." whatever [censored] song and immediately focus on some distraction. Total media blackout for a week or so, look forward to summer and then Dees fire up for 2024. Life's too short, so spend your time wisely.

Now, where's my bottle of Dimple and Kind of Blue LP by Miles Davis?

Cheers everyone. Dees will be back!!

Just watched the replay.  Whistle blown exactly one second before lions player kicked it in the air .

Wowed.

100k people roaring....as if he even heard the whistle. Advantage should only be called when there is an advantage.  Hence the term. Otherwise it's called the faux free

The AFL have this itch that can only be scratched with new rules. Every year they tinker.
I hate that they change the rules for the sake of changing them. And I hate that they have them worded to allow for ambiguous decision making.

But please take the advantage rule from soccer where there is no whistle and if it doesn’t benefit that team play is then stopped and brought back.

In this instance, play would’ve been brought back giving Brisbane a chance of hitting a target inside 50.

Before that, on the mcc wing the whistle went but then (I think) Daicos was allowed to play on leaving (I think) McKenna with his hands questioning why play was allowed to continue.

Whilst we are on umpire decisions, I can’t believe the umpire stopped the play and paid high against McCarthy for Murphy not getting low enough. It wasn’t a free to Murphy and this is when  the ball was loose in the lions f50 with a numerical advantage. Many poor decisions through the day impacted the final result.

You don't think fantasy innacurate and pointless criticism is belligerent?

I suppose not ;stupid and juvenile seems appropriate  to me.

I was pleased sections of the crowd voiced displeasure at Maynard  myself

Possibly your section drowned out the overall crowd..

One of the things I liked about today’s game was the booing of Maynard. Those were neutral fans who clearly disagree with the handling of that incident, and it was clear to hear on the broadcast.

It's amazing how the close ones they won are always luck.

Try and think that stupidity through why don't you.

The G had nothing at all  to do with the Lions losing.

It might have been an undisciplined  60 metre penalty.

Is that you Bali Demon???

Let’s not talk about heinous crimes perpetrated against minors that weren’t punishable by a prison sentence of any length.

He was in Bali. That is where Bali Demon is from 😂😜🤪. Nuff said!

But seriously he was in Bali. Different system

And McCrae. He has a hand in it too. Sent Maynard out as his assassin to stamp authority on the finals series. Truth be told Melbourne need a hard man but i dont know if i want to be part of it.

Yep. He got a suspended sentence because the judge said he was ‘highly likely to ever offend again’…

and literally the very next day another victim came forward.

I know the popular thing to do is bag the umpiring.

But we have so much to learn from that game, and from Collingwood.

They just won a GF with Frampton, Mihocek, Cameron and Cox as their tall forwards/rucks. They are relaxed, they balance defence with offence, and their supporters support them no matter what.

They were the best side all year and it’s hardly like they didn’t deserve to win today.

Brisbane were great, and it will go down as one of the all time best GFs, but rather than trying to tell ourselves they only won due to our poor QF kicking or today’s umpiring, let’s all acknowledge reality - they are the benchmark and they are better than everyone else.

Cox, Cameron and also Frampton got barely 14 disposals between them but played their roles working over Oscar in the ruck and providing a defensive, spoiling target up forward to negate the Lions intercepting backs and rebound out of D50. And yet we could not make the Grundy, Gawn duo work? In a final series with no real stand out team, decided by a straight kick at goal here, a free kick given or not given there it is still doing my head in. Whatever happened behind closed doors in the last part of the season between Grundy, Max  and the coach, it cost us big time. And I suspect the fiasco involves some very unprofessional, selfish behaviour somewhere but we will never know.

No thanks. If we have to knock people out to win id rather just not win.

Can Collingwood fans actually afford dentistry?

Nope, but thanks to taxpayers they get it for free. How good does it feel to be paying to fix the teeth in the dropped-pie heads of the ne’er-do-wells?! 🥳 🤣

Yeah, something happened there.
Disrespected Grundy bigtime.

Good luck trying to bring the next free agent to the club if that's how we're gonna treat 'em.

Absolutely correct.
Team Selection 1 against Pies

play 2 rucks relatively equal times to their combo and beat at own game.

Well, today he did, but I thought it was more representative of the mood of the average fan. It felt more about the AFL and tribunal process than anything. 👍

Agreed. But moot, really. If we knocked people out it wouldn’t result in a win. A multi-week suspension would likely ensue.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
