Can anyone recall a Grand Final where it was twenty-seven degrees?

2015 Hawks V Eagles. Pretty sure it was at least 28 that day.

Edit - was confirmed to have been the hottest ever GF. Peaked at over 31.

so sad, literally crying into my scotch

Pies fans erupt over AFL Grand Final ticket ‘disgrace’ as ‘guaranteed’ seats go begging

still, doesn't say much about a gfg ... someone is cleaning up

Wait - this is important as our club does this too. Is this a case of GFG holder not getting a guaranteed ticket? That goes against the very product Does it not? I have had one since 2020 and although I was able to get a ticket in my basket in 21, didn’t buy it as I’m in NSW (just wanted to say I had a ticket , for 5 mins😂) I’d want to be sure of getting one

Edit: saw post on previous page. Standing room for 1k wtaf?

you either get a GFg or not - misleading if not and then ACCC might be interested if not

I love GF day - a semi religious experience which is planned, and follows the same routine each year.

Sleep in (rare these days), slow coffee and toast, then wonder whether I can be bothered watching any of the AFL breakfasts (I can't be bothered. I never watch them any more, because the new professional feel of them robs them of a great earthy quality the old North Melbourne ones used to have.)

At 11am, gather my massive amount of snacks, drinks (usually Harcourt cider, the best cider in the world)  and laptop, and begin watching all the unnecessary and repetitive rubbish. I have pies and chips for lunch.

The rest of my household are disinterested so I get to watch in in isolation, which I like. In 2021, all the family watched it together.

Will be barracking VERY strongly for the Lions. The filth winning is not an option.

Good call on the cider. As a Macedon Ranges boy (used to play pennant golf in your neck of the woods) I would dearly love to be able to get Holgate and Harcourt here in the Northern Rivers. Mercury cider a fair swap

Would you be happy with standing room because that appears to be what some were offered

If it was clearly disclosed (and highlighted - probably in the product name) and I was a fully informed buyer then yes

just saw your other post - ACCC should investigate

imagine if the CFC got fined for misleading conduct for this. Omg , hilarious (I do feel sorry for the fans though, rip offs aren’t cool )

Yes, a very hot day. But the next day the temperature reached 37 C!  I remember it very well - it was my wedding day. Got married on a Sunday so everyone could enjoy the big game, and but for Buckenara’s goal after the siren could have been an even bigger game.

They just said on 7 news (WA) that those that selected standing room as an option missed out completely, obviously some algorithms just discarded their ticket (even GFG) for selecting it.  So much for covering all bases for a ticket.  One member was companying it wouldn't debit her card despite there being lots of money on it.  It's a good thing they use such as reliable organisation to manage tickets. Looks like 17,000 allocated  tickets per club.

I have to pretend to barrack for them as my Mother-in-law goes for them, she kindly goes for Melbourne when Pies aren't playing, but still, I can't genuinely do it. If any consolation, succesfully converted my wife to Dees years ago, could of argued a deal breaker if not 🤣 Anyway, go Lions 🤣😂

My wife, youngest son and entire in laws are pies

mrs super has said if we ( me and the eldest who’s a dee) can’t support the pies we have to leave the house for the day. We’ve had a serious talk about how angry I am about Maynard and how he should not be playing but I see her point. She was very supportive in 21 and i have a lot of very special premiers memorabilia she got me for Xmas, birthday and Father’s Day (including premiers jerseys with gold embossed afl logo and personalised premiership footy with family name)

I think - no matter how much I hate them - for Mrs super , our youngest seeing a premiership (including for pendles ) and matrimonial harmony - I can deal. Just a game. Just a game. Just a game

So someone has been promised tickets that are not there.

Is this like or unlike the Qantas ticket debacle?

It seems the ticketing debacle is the fault of the CFC. It's being reported that cat 1 members with a gfg were guaranteed a ticket. But that ticket could be any category, including standing room. Some of those members were allocated standing room but had opted out of this option by ticking a box. Therefore they lost their ticket.

According to Ticketek this is because CFC instructed them to prioritise all members equally. Meaning GFG members were guaranteed a ticket, but not one of a paticilar level. This is also why some cat 3 members got great seats while some cat 1 got nose bleeds.

In contrast Brisbane instructed ticketek to offer level 1-4 seats to their cat 1 members,4-5 for their cat 2 members and anything left for their cat 3 members

What is uncleat is how many GFGs CFC have sold.

Understand,,,, but the issue is are clubs selling expensive GF guarantee memberships that only entitle a holder to standing room.

Is it just Collingwood or are other clubs doing it?

MFC have never had a GF where the guarantee applies for example

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
