Travy14 2,143 Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Matt Whitlock - 199cm Key Forward/Def Whitlock had joined his twin brother Jack in the forward line for the Bushrangers until last week, when he shifted back to defence and had a day out. He took 11 marks and collected 24 disposals while mopping things up in the back half against Dandenong. Whitlock’s versatility is part of his appeal as an athletic tall prospect at both ends of the ground – as well as his surety in defence, he has also kicked 19 goals in 11 Coates Talent League games this year. This kid looks perfect for us, looking like going mid to late 20s. Providing that is what we get for ANB i love the look of this kid, can be a replacement for May/Lever in our future defence or at 200cm he could become a Fwd/Ruck 4 2 Quote

Jack looks like a gun. We could even get both brothers if we manage to get another top 15 pick by trading out our future 1st. 1 Quote

Yeh we are not going to have a pick around the mark to get Jack unfortunately. Unfortunately with the draft being so strong this year no one is giving away those early picks for future picks. 1 Quote

Add in Brisbane, they’ll def trade their first for multiple later picks, Levi will get nominated well before pick 14/15. Another 30+ touches and a goal for him today in Sandy’s big wildcard win over the Jets, Murphy Reid with 32 & 3 goals. Harry Armstrong had a good game up forward, 4 goals from 16 touches. Jagga’s Oakleigh Chargers got up in a slight upset over Calder. Smith with 24 & 1, Finn O’Sullivan DNP. Waylon Davey-Motlop kicked 5 (has talent, but a long way away from AFL conditioning), Jasper Alger kicked 4 (skilful small forward). Elsewhere, Josh Smillie and the Ranges crashed out to the Northern Knights. Smillie got himself 26 & 2, but didn’t have a heap of support. Jesse Dattoli best on with 35 and a goal and could push well inside the top 30 range. Edited August 31, 2024 by ChaserJ 1 4 Quote

He just seems to remind me like a Rory Sloane type. Good runner. Creative ball user with good skills and smart decisions. Also knows how to kick a goal. Had another good game fo Northern on the weekend with 3 goals. Definitely recruiters will lift Jesse Dattoli ranking in the 20s now. Another excellent games yesterday with 30+ possessions and goals. Best on ground again. Showed his skill and pace and goalkicking. Leading Knights midfield and has the decision making and class to make it in the AFL. If we get pick 25 off the Crows for ANB, then Dattoli has to be on the potentials sheet. 1 2 Quote

GC currently have 6,13,20,26,34 and 46. They are stacked with later picks to come academy player. If they use 13 on and use 6 at the draft they still have more than enough points. They might try to move up from 6 to get better player and be sure to get in front of any early bid for Lombard. They will be a big player again and might be worth us trading for one of their second rounders. I think I’d rather trade out our future second rather than first if we could bumble it up with a pick or two from this year and get 20 or 26. 1 Quote

Perhaps reminds me of Lachie Neale. Good endurance runner so should test well at combine. Accumulates the footy and creates. Has the footy IQ factor that puts him in the top 10 calculations ( I had him at pick 11 in my phantom draft 14/8/24). Kicking is not penetrating with kicks 35 metres and sometimes up and under. Tackling ok but bigger bodies in AFL Yep, looks VG at ground level by hand. Kicking is not as mouth watering I'd have Smilie and Langford ahead at this point. 1 1 Quote
ChaserJ 5,192 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Today’s results: Should be some mouthwatering encounters in the next round. Many of the top echelon of Vic prospects still in it and all of our NGA prospects (& Noah Yze) still there too. 1 1 Quote

Deespicable 2,886 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Thanks Ted Lasso for your early draft prognostications. I still don't quite understand why we wouldn't do a deal with Brisbane for their current pick 14 - worth 1161 points. Given they will lose it for Ashcroft, I just assumed they will look for a better points deal and we can offer them picks 38, 42 (ANB deal), 45 and 51 - a points total of 1466. Have the rules changed in that regard? To me that's the only way we can get access to a tall forward such as Whitlock or Davis to go with a quality midfielder at pick 5. Secondly, I hope you have not got caught up in the Jon Ralph Tiger trade hype value. He is a Richmond supporter after all. Yes I agree they will likely get Gold Coast's pick 6 as part of the Rioli deal with something going back to the Suns - most likely pick 29. Then Fremantle may be willing to part with pick 10 for Shai Bolton, but two first rounders for a soon to be 26yo small forward coming off a poor year is fanciful. And as for West Coast offering a first rounder (as Ralphy suggests) for a 26yo small defender/forward in Baker - please give us a break. The best the Eagles will stump up is pick 23 and some would say that is overs. 3 Quote
