Invisible moonboots, knee tape, a mystery training absentee and a birth. And yes the sausage pun spiral tipped it over the edge.

The chaotic nervous energy in general is off the chain!

Come back tomorrow, it will get worse.

I will never forget the training runs before the '87 and then the '88 Grand Final especially.

I reckon we left all our emotional energy at the Junction Oval on the Thursday night before the 1988 Grand Final.

For those who were not there, training concluded, as always, with a bunched team lap of the oval led by Rodney "Balls" Grinter who always led the team off the training track.

The cheers were as loud as in a match and we supporters, and the players, sucked it all in. The most emotional moment in over 30 years of demon worship to that date (and that includes the 64 GF).

And then we played the unstoppable dorks. But we had rebuilt pride and confidence in our team.

GO DEES.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
