While Ticketek nominally assign Bays for the two clubs I don't think it is sophisticated enough to ensure the numbers are 50/50.  My impression last year was first in, best dressed.

Regarding the Ticketek 'premium' member option the computer didn't always deliver premium seats nor priority access.  The seat allocation seemed to be on price category rather than membership status.  Anyone could choose the highest priced tickets.

Generally, the computer seemed to allocate tickets (by price category) in a Bay until it was full then allocated tickets in the next available Bay.  Sometimes there were Bays with fans from both clubs but you don't know this until you get to the game.

Once the MCC, AFL and other group's seats are considered the allocation for club members will be relatively small.

Hopefully the tickets for Carlton/Sydney go on sale on the Wednesday to avoid a total meltdown.   The other games' tickets will be sold by Ticketmaster.

@Fear the beard will probably know more.

I thought last year was premium members had a 2 hour window before other members to purchase their tickets?

I could of had that wrong though.

Getting the tickets is nearly as stressful as a final decided by a couple of goals

I think thta is right. Priority one members get first crack at tix is my understanding.

Priority one members are those with a GF guarantee:

Memberships with Grand Final Guarantee included:

  • Legends
  • Trident
  • Trident Open Air,
  • Redlegs,
  • Redlegs Open Air
  • Demon Seats Plus members

So technically we should be getting ours at 10am?
I am getting on a plane in the afternoon and am responsible for 5 tickets. It’s very stressful.

But note, anyone dead keen to be priority memeber for the QF can buy an Access membership for $30.

It's not clear what priority this gives you (maybe just the same as general memebers? ie so you have a chance at getting ticket as none will be available to non mmebers), but the info on the link below says:

Package Benefits

  • Priority access to purchase a ticket in weeks 1-3 of finals in which Melbourne participates
  • Priority 3 access to a Grand Final ticket if Melbourne participates
  • 10% off full priced purchases in-store and online at the Demon Shop
  • Club Voting Rights (if over 18)
  • Access to exclusive offers from club partners

Info about the priority group can be found here under FAQs:

Saints game also on Ticketek but for AFL reserve they are staggering the games, hopefully they do the same for Public and MCC. The premium option I am not 100% sure about.

Reading the package benefits for the $30 Access membership, it seems to be that all three levels of members (Priority 1, 2 and 3) all get priority access.

So perhaps Priority one doesn't get a first crack? ie when sales open, all members have priority access at the same time

Do we receive a different barcode for each game?

During Covid in 2021 we were encouraged to share our barcode’s which I did. If i attend next Thursday night and assuming we win I don’t go to the preliminary but plan on going to the GF, if I’ve shared my barcode to someone what’s to stop them trying to use it for GF tickets should we make it?

Yep, everyone at 10am tomorrow, however priority one members get exclusive access to purchase category one and two seating.

I think the barcode is the same for the whole year in season, but changes every year. The barcode you had in 2021 won't be valid.

Anyone have an idea, the cost to the tickets for the finals game against the Colly?

I’m talking about this year. I’m planning on going next Thursday but not again until the GF should we make it. If I was to share my barcode for the preliminary they could then try and use it for the GF.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the barcode if you don’t receive the email? Is it on the ticketek account?

I haven’t received emails from the club since prior to 2018

Make sure your account has ticked "to receive communications" from the Club. Sorry I don't know the exact wording but you may have decided not to receive emails in the past which would may stop you from receiving the most important email you will ever receive apart from " you have won lotto"🙂

Yeah definitely don't share the barcode then. I'd buy a ticket for someone else for the PF, avoiding the need to share the barcode number with anyone.

Already taking the Friday off, ideally don't want to take tomorrow off as well just to concentrate 100% on getting tickets!

No. The barcodes change every year.

Hey thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tried a few times with no success, my wife forwards me her important emails from the club but obviously her email will contain her barcode.

I called the club and you can get the barcodes through the Ticketmaster members area only on a PC though. I did this earlier today. There is a link on the website in the finals FAQ section to access the account from for anyone else in the same predicament.

Priority access for these memberships simply means BEFORE NON MEMBERS.

iirc that 2 hour window was prior to tickets being sold to non-members or to the public.

Even that was a disaster last year as any member could purchase 10 tickets on one membership even though those people weren't members.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
