Not really. We end up in second on the ladder to finish the round while pick 4 from Freo is still in play.

Hey you're dead right! Thought we lost 2nd for a moment

Brisbane celebrating like they just won a grand final. Embarrassing.

A great result. We are ahead of Brisbane AND Freo stuck in bottom 4.
Jackson embarrassing in that quarter.

Jackson played his heart out, entitled to show a little fatigue in the end. Embarrassing is not the right comment.

He was soft. For a guy earning more than Gawn, he needed to do more.

Yeah he was super that game.

Lol soft? Ok, you’re always right. Sorry

He did not go hard enough in a few critical contests in the last and fumbled at crucial times. He was very good early but he had a terrible last quarter.
He was also rucking against Daniher who is not a great ruckman.

I bet you scream for ANB to be dropped when he fumbles 🙄

Coming of age performance really, gave Fort plenty to think about.

A draft pick is a lottery. Look at Bowey and Laurie. One pick apart.

Going a game clear of an interstate team in 2nd when we are massively in contention is worth a lot more than pick 4 vs pick 5.

I want Freo to win. Draft picks mean a lot less to me than multiple home finals.

I think the Crows are a chance to knock off the Lions next week - Even though it’s at the Gabba, they are trying to get into the 8.

No-one's arguing that.
But 2nd spot is ours to keep ..... If we're good enough.
As they say, "The ladder doesn't lie."

The other thing to consider is if Collingwood lose two of the final three games. Both we and Brisbane could overtake them

I would have preferred a Fremantle win today but there are 2 consolations: a better draft pick for Melbourne and a small winnning nargin for Brisbane (which might be meaningful in the push for 2nd position). 2.5 games clear of 5th and surely we'll win at least 1 of 3. We need to knock off Carlton next Saturday and finalise the Top 4 (if not their order)!

Here's hoping. Would be the best thing ever.

Daicos out for 6 weeks with a hairline fracture

Could have been worse. They might have ruled him out for 4 to 6 weeks and that would have been curtains for 2023.

McRae's press conference was par for the course. He's always a little twitchy, it's just his way. You're all just looking for cracks way too hard.

Pies players were laughing on the bench with 30 seconds to go. This won't hurt them - I'm in zero doubt they're loading, for no other reason than they can afford to. Top spot is theirs. They know they've beaten anyone on their day and can win from 5 goals down consistently.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but they're absolutely primed and this loss is doing nothing other than enhancing their priming.

Will be beyond surprised if they don't make the grand final.

Is this satire?

Have I missed talk of Match Review for the Blanck hit on N.Daicos? Late, front-on no eyes for the ball, caused serious injury - must get weeks IMHO.

I thought the same thing ... to me the Hawthorn player deliberately took Daicos out and should have been cited for unduly rough play.  2-4 weeks penalty

But because Daicos was contesting the mark, head contact was unlikely.  Are the AFL so head conscious that they let this incident go?  And are we going to see a glut of these sorts of incidents (if a player can get away with it)

The other standout out feature of the weekend was West Coast not flooding back to protect a slender lead in the last couple of minutes of the game

There's no truth in the rumour that certain members of the Eagles hierarchy went from ashen-faced to rosey-cheeked once the Bombers scored to gain the lead.  It's just another wacky conspiracy theory Sarcastic Joke GIF

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
