I've go to barrack for them tonight but, seriously, they get an armchair ride

Kicking 18 behinds we didn’t, it will be an absolute fairytale if they drop into a hole and lose games and go out in straight sets

Huh?? That’s genuinely weird. We smashed them on scoring shots and they lost to 16th in the lead up to the finals. They’re not as good as the media narrative presents 😉

The frees to Geelong in this game are wild.

Agree ... the umpiring is disgraceful.

Come on Cats.....

.......oh god i cant say it without throwing up

I rather not carry them in the side and just back our midfield to beat anyone we play one on one.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think we should try to limit the opposition’s best player. But I wouldn’t play a player in a purely negative role in a final. We don’t need to do that.

We don't need to every game, but when a players like Nick Daicos, Zak Butters and Noah Anderson (no coincidence they are all quick) can so clearly dominate a game off their own back we absolutely should.

Also, Goodwin does tag because he put time into Lachie Neale recently!

Pretty stiff on Butters, that free kick to Rohan. The only reason he ran into him was because the boundary throw in was 10 m short.

We are not barracking for a Geelong win. We are barracking for a Port loss.

I think Daicos had 27 mostly ineffective touches against us. We worked him out of the game.
Only Butters absolutely destroyed us this year and won the game for his side. I reckon if Clarry doesn’t tear his hamstring in the third we win that game anyway.

And if my auntie had balls she would have been my uncle, could've should've but didn't.

What is your point? Are Pies still winning the flag?

Games such as this are mentally exhausting. A great goal or mark or tackle and you’ve gotta stop for a second to work out if you’re happy or not.

Lol if we are second by the end of the weekend

Agree but we didn’t put them away on the scoreboard and the media played it off as Pies lost not the demons won.  Blues and now hawks have put them away! It was great watching Fly look uncomfortable on the bench!

22 of his 27 disposals were "effective" for what it's worth.

My point is, Hawthorn tagged him hard, it totally shut him down and Collingwood looked much weaker as a result.

Ok, same vibe - different interpretation of competence 🙌🏼. I look at scoring shots vs opponents as a guide, irrespective of the goals to points breakdown.

In finals anything happens it's a different ball game altogether if you can control their midfield which is their strongest part of their game like the Hawks did then no but they will be amongst it.

I still dont care if we finish 4th and play Pies at the G first up......

(If they can even hang on to top spot)

My point, for what it's worth, is you could have made your point without calling posters who hold a contrary view, or a senior coach of a premiership winning team for that matter, a nuffie.

I mean, it's not compulsory on the internet to insult people.

There is no doubt that Daicos playing poorly severely reduces the overall quality of the Pies midfield. But Daicos is not an inside mid nor a contested winning bull.

This is the main weakness of Collingwood. It’s why they went and got Mitchell. But he’s bog ordinary at using the footy and he’s slow as a wet rag. They keep subbing him off to try and get some more run in last quarters.

De Goey is the only inside mid they have who can really hurt you on the outside. But he’s inconsistent and mentally soft.
Their midfield is one dimensional. If you stop them winning the footy then by extension you limit Daicos as he needs the ball fed out to him.
Butters on the other hand can win his own ball and destroy you with it. He is far more damaging and hard to stop than Daicos IMO.
The key to beating Pies is to shut down De Goey and Adams. De Goey only had 17 today and Adams 13. Combined they had 7 clearances. Nash had 6 by himself.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
