The Demon Army is hosting a RETRO PARTY and EVERYONE is WELCOME!

We’ve booked the top floor of The Sporting Globe in Richmond for this Friday, July 21 with the fun starting at 7pm.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the one and only JEFF FARMER will be our very special guest, so it would be great to get as many folks there as possible. As Suzanne (one of our amazing CS leaders and my very good friend) says, “The Wiz deserves a large audience.” No one can dispute that, right?

So please join us on Friday night and be sure to wear your finest RETRO DEES GEAR!!!

TITUS O’REILLY will also be there to make you laugh. And he will!

Tickets can be purchased through the link below. Adults $20 and children $10 with profits being split with MFC Past Players.

Walkups on the night are also welcome ie, tickets can be purchased at the door… cash and card accepted

Show your MFC membership and you’ll receive a 20% discount on all food and drink!

BE THERE!!!

Bumping this back onto the front page of topics. Hope nobody minds.

Since posting it this morning we’ve had 10 more people purchase tickets, for which we are very grateful. (Thank you sincerely if you’re one of those people.) But we need way more people to attend. Therefore, since I’m not above begging, I beseech everyone to consider attending our retro party. If begging doesn’t work I'll have no choice but to initiate phase two…. nagging. I’m exceptionally good at nagging. If nagging was an Olympic sport I’d be the Michael Phelps, only with more gold medals. Make no mistake… I’ll wear y’all down by Friday. 😝

Happy to post to keep the thread 'northwards' @WalkingCivilWar, by posting my apologies: we'll be on the road northwards ourselves, into NSW by that time.

Best wishes for a successful (and deservedly lucrative for the DA) event!

It’s sure to be a really fun night, so we’re hoping for a good turnout.

Enjoy your time in NSW. 🙂

It's amazing how one can perceive oneself versus the perception of others 😜

Unfortunately I cannot make it because I'm still living in Sydney... but I will see you in Hobart!

A flimsy excuse 🤨

I guess I’ll just have to chat to The Wiz and laugh at Titus and watch old Dees matches and sing our song  and eat, drink and be merry without you. 😭 😭 😭

Never mind, we’ll make up for it in Tassie. Except no swinging from the chandelier, nor dancing on the table with lampshades on our heads coz Tassie. 😁

Great initiative WCW, previous commitment on Friday. Suggest more notice and I will be there. Cheers P.F

Might be working late but a chance if I get off early

Sounds like it will be a good evening!

We couldn’t announce it any earlier since our guests hadn’t confirmed.

As it was, we were meant to have it on the 7th, the night before our Saints game. (The Club decided not to have a retro round this season so we had our own unofficial retro round) but it’s difficult to have everyone available on the one night.

WCW you're making me feel ghastly - from FOMO and also because I'll just have to be there in spirit!

Strange to think I've had drinks with many fine folks from the Demon Army but somehow never you!   I'm sure we can find a Tassie specific version of chandeliers or lampshades, maybe carousing at the Salamanca markets 😄

P.S. did I ever mention that you missed out on meeting Sparrow at a kebab store on the Gold Coast after the game? 😉

You may’ve mentioned it once or twice or a hundred times. 🤨

‘Twas for the betterment of all that I chose to forgo postgame revelling since I’d been up for 36 hours and delirium and alcohol don’t mix. I would’ve been a danger to myself and/or you guys and/or the fine folk of the Gold Coast. 🥴

How did the night go ??

It went really well. The Wiz says he’s an introvert but he regaled us with stories for almost two hours! His 6yo daughter, Scout, stole the show a few times though. The best was when she interrupted her dad on stage (at the conclusion of the bombers/ bulldogs match) to announce that we’re still fourth on the ladder. She even proved it by holding a phone up to show him.

Titus is a legend. No one guessed Jeff would talk for so long and Titus waited patiently for the entire time. He did his usual type of material except he cut it short because of how late it was. He wasn’t paid for last night, but you wouldn’t know it. He truly is a Dees diehard.

The turnout was good. A room full of passionate fans makes for a fun night.

This morning one of our illustrious leaders told me she thinks there were some DL-ers there. I didn’t know that, but thanks so much for your support, it means a lot to us and the Past Players Association. Also, bummer I didn’t get to meet any fellow DL-ers. Maybe next time!

Haha We purposely kept our distance.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
