I listened to the post match commentary and was a bit surprised that Matthew Richardson and then separately Adam Cooney (peanut if you ask me) thought that it would be impossible for Grundy to be an effective forward. Cooney was actually suggesting we trade Grundy at seasons end - to me that would be dumb because atm we have nobody ready to take the ruck role on if Max were to get injured. I'd love to see Brodie become a serious threat in the F50 by the seasons end - over to our coaches to make it happen.

 

It makes sense that Max played better. Just like when Kozzie is struggling they give him a run in the middle.

Max played better because he was involved in the game on a full-time basis. You constantly get the feel of the game , the ball in your hands and have much more confidence. Particularly Max, who has always been an endurance player. Warming the bench or parking in the fwd line also gives one time to dwell on any mistakes or low form.

It’s not unforeseen. It’s why they wanted to get him help - he is 31 and if he has to do that consistently he will be out of the game in 2 years max.
