We won’t and should not debut a kid as the sub. Especially the son of a former champion. It’s just not right.

Romanticism should never come into play.

Too many of you folks get up in all of that and all the does is add unnecessary pressure on the kid.

Jordon simply shouldn't be a sub and it's obvious the Dees coaching ranks have thought real hard between JJ and Woey. So if that was the two options then Woey should be the preferred sub option for me.

Someone placed a little sticker on the number plate of Nick Daicos’s car overnight…

What a [censored] game to include so many legs in multis on goalkicking!

Crucified.

It’s not about romanticism. It’s about a kid who has worked damn hard and deserves to be selected to play and have all the same bells and whistles that every other debutant gets.

Playing one quarter as a sub will do nothing for him, nor will it tell us if he’s able to hold his own at this level. Most players can’t impact much as sub unless they’re very experienced or play a very specific role (eg Melksham).  Why would you make a debutant fight for another game by making them sub and severely limiting their ability to impact the game?

He will get a game sooner or later and it’ll be done properly. I also don’t think there’s any need to debut a kid in such a massive game. It’s a lot of unnecessary pressure.

It's not about romanticism?

You literally brought in the " We shouldn't debut him as a sub because he's the son of a club champion".. lol

If he was the sub the coaches would be doing a great job reminding him that the sub role isn't purely for one quarter bit to expect to come on at any time. Expect the unexpected, especially when injuries could easily come in the first quarter.

It really isn't he worst option for a debut.

And I’m sure that feeling of feeling okay about it is a little bit anchored in the knowledge that as a ‘sub’ nowadays you can be inserted into the game at any time.

I’ve said the same thing about every player to make a debut, regardless of who they are or aren’t related to. Debuting someone in the sub role is a [censored] move and it’s why clubs rarely do it.

That he is the son of a club champion that we treated like trash just makes it even worse that we would debut him as the sub.

JJ is a good sub option as he can play multiple positions.

You honestly think Shane and the club actually take this into account 😅

Think the family would be super proud of Taj whether he's a starting sub or full game. This is about Taj, not Shane or a decision that occurred 21 years ago.....

Take young Tex Wanganeen for example. Made his debut as sub which upset many of their supporters, not least of all his dad. It’s got nothing to do with romanticism and everything to do with respect and confidence-building. A club’s mental health professionals can explain to a YOUNG person why being debuted as a sub isn’t a terrible thing but the fact that they’re YOUNG means it mightn’t have the desired effect.

18-year-olds are basically still kids. No one should expect them to react to anything like an adult would.

Not sure why, perhaps it’s the last time we had a 10 day break and really needed a statement win, but I’m hoping for a similar performance to that of round 15 last season when we smashed the Lions at the G.  It was one of our best performances of the year (up there with round 20 against Freo and round 23 again against the Lions) but unfortunately it was far better than the form we showed in the finals.  Now, as we are passed the half way mark of the season, things really gets interesting and we get to see if we truly have learned the lessons from last season and can correctly get everything peaking when it matters. So I hope tomorrow is a statement game, but only a hint of what’s to come.

I agree. I can’t see where the goals are going to come from. I think we will struggle to kick more than 60 points, which won’t be enough.

I can understand this. I live in hope that the challenge that the filth present will concentrate the minds of our players and will turn their collective form around.

Dees by 21points after a strong 4th quarter.

Due for big games from Langon, Hunter, Brayshaw, Salem and Fritta

Be great to hit our straps and have a strong performance from these 5

My big concern is defensive midfield

Hope Viney, Sparrow, ANB do a good job on their accumulators

Add Pickett to this list.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
