Dare I take this as a good sign that it's a minor 1-2 week injury and he'll back for Kings B'day??

is there even such a thing as a minor 1-2? i thought minimum for the smallest of tears was 3 weeks. This equates to tightness / awareness / low strain etc.

The best we can hope for is cramp, but the way he pulled at it suggests to me 3 week min. So we work towards a return for Geelong.

Had a chat to to a volunteer after the session.

He reckons Oliver, will be out for 4 weeks, JJ or Harmes to come in, and that Dunstan is still struggling with his knee.

He is moving OK, but only short movements. No strapping and feeling the top of his left quad.

Scared and fell I'm imposing if I take his attention away from what he is doing.

Oliver has entered the field, doing some resistance work and also going a bit harder.

Now a bit more, does some switching with his steps, looking comfortable, all smiles, and Petty who is close by gives him a hug.

He has put on a stretch strapping and doing some slow 50 meter run throughs under a timer.

Carrying a ball, doing small kicks, Tracc has a hand slap with him, looking positive and on the low side of grading.

No way Oliver is able to do these straight away after a hamstring tear. A tear has too much discomfort when walking etc.

It's either badly tight or at least a low grade hamstring strain which could be 2-3 weeks max.

Took a while to spot him, Dunstan is in full training mode.

I think they are testing him out physically.

One of the last to leave the paddock, after doing some low ball gets.

This might be Dunstan's chance but by the sound of things Clarry could be foxing.

Just like Steven May.

We'll find out soon enough.  Thanks very much Kev for your time and efforts to report back. Much appreciated.

Hence why I said it's hopefully on the minor (small strain) side of missing a week or two...

Petty was in rehab, doing simple exercises, no running.

Thanks Kev and all posters that is great that Clayton was able to get on the track at least and great that we have posters that have the experience to put forward great anecdotal observations re timeframes and injury types. Greatly appreciated.!!

Does Clayton Oliver have two hamstrings or just one now?

Actually, not wishing to be too pedantic - OK, I am  🙄 - he, like all of us, have three on each side.

Maybe the scan showed no tear at all and he was just suffering from cramp?   Doesn’t sound like he would be allowed to, or feel able to do, those exercises were there any tear at all.

Did he feel the back of his thigh at any point?

I was not talking about weekly ins or outs....just a few possible positional changes.

Fwiw none of your changes are overly inspiring.   We are going to look a much less talented team on paper this week.

*Clearly if players are injured or suspended they will need replacements...but that is pretty darn obvious!

Well if they continue to bomb the ball into the forward line then they may as well give Smith a go, at least he will crash the pack and cause the pill to the ground.

No idea why we would bring in someone who has proven time and time and time again that his disposal is nowhere near AFL standard. Buckley extremely sensible on this here:

He'll fit in well with the rest of our mids then.

No, more the front of it.

Started with some stretches, hip raises. I have included a sketch.

Fritsch also in for scans apparently

Fritta didn't do too much at training. Some work with the resistance band, and leg stretches.

This has been his normal weekly preparation for some time now.

How was Petracca looking? Hopefully not hindered by the ankle too much, will need a big game this week from him.

First out and last off the paddock.

interesting Kev. My physio got me to do a modified version of this to test whether my 'hammy' was muscle or nerve related. Basically said if i could do this its more nerve related than muscle fibre.

I was convinced i pinged the hammy but  it resolved itself within a week without much work being done on it.

The clubs physio was right next to him at the time, guiding him through the process. Also, feeling the area where the leg bone meets the hip bone, at the front.

After this assessment, he went and did some short easy run throughs with some sideways movement. Talked to the physio, and after putting on an elastic support, had numerous (at least 10), slowish, 50 meter timed run throughs.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
