  • If nothing else this game is the first real test against the elite of the comp.  Will be fascinating to see if our structures hold up.

AHHHHHHHHHH. It still gives a warm glow when we are talked about like that.

I had to wade through dross to the equivalent of about 25 DL pages to extract this weeks contributions.  Any idea what that is like 🤮 given they are my most hated team!

The things I do for my fellow DL's😉

It’s a thread I look forward to every week, Luci, you’re a champion for providing this community service ❤️💙❤️

I used to hate Esserdun (sic) but now I just pity them.

I cannot make up my mind; I used to pity them, and across the past 30 years, I actually learned to hate them.

I’m married to a Carlton supporter, sshhh, I pretend to be neutral about them, but secretly I detest the vile, arrogant and entitled supporters (husband excepted) and club. God help us all when they finally reemerge.
I was barracking for Adelaide tonight

I was the same, until tonight at the Boundary Hotel in 3165, reminded me what a bunch of self entitled muppets they really are. This old bloke in a family wearing their Essendon scarves to the pub (you're not even playing tonight, you absolute pelicans!), cut in front of me at the bar, completely oblivious to the 6 foot 6 bloke towering above him, clearly next in line.

Now, yes, he was a boomer, so one could go down the path of the self entitled boomer etc etc, but I'd prefer not to play idpol on the generational welfare stuff. That gets us nowhere. I am however quite happy playing idpol with football supporters and there's just something about Essendon plonkers. Despite being irrelevant for almost two decades, they're still the smarmiest of the lot.

And yes, I got my drink eventually.

Haha, so you let an old don's supporter push in front of you in a queue for a beer - and you are 6 foot 6 and yet you did nothing?

And you wonder why these essendon supporter "muppets" feel "self-entitled".

As a young 67yr old boomer myself, I would have pushed back past the plick in a very loud voice proclaiming "I'm next". Mrs Dw says I will get stabbed one day but I say "Fork Em".

Oh, and sorry I don't care how tall you are!

I get what you're doing. Saying you hate them makes them feel as if they're still relevant. Saying you pity them hurts them far more 👏

Absolutely. The pain of the pity during the dark days used to hurt so bad. I can’t wait to feel the glory of the hatred

Clarke

And Jack Clarke is credited with being the first coach to rotate his 3 talls within the forward line.  By contrast Norm Smith often played a decoy forward so as to create opportunities and space for his other forwards

At the same time Peter Pianto (Cats coach) was the first to introduce the forward press ... a tactic he borrowed from soccer

I was too young to see these tactics enacted first hand, more so gleaned knowledge from what I've read and from what I've heard from ol' mate Dave

As for Essendon, I've often admired a number of their players (Hird, Madden, Tim Watson, Van der Haar et al) but I cannot stand their supporters

A 1 point win against this mob would be sweet!!  Or a thrashing!!

Not worth it, pretty sure they now believe they are flag contenders or something of that ilk.
