Originally it was 72 hours before the game but some weeks it seemed to be more like 48 hours beforehand.  It may depend on start time but not sure.

I read somewhere that they had changed it to 24 hours this year.

The only decent thing the AFL membership has done is bring back physical membership cards, mobile ticketing isnt for everyone and the club should know we have an older fan base (like my old man) and he likes to hold his card and scan it in.

I signed up with the 6 games for price of 3 membership on Thursday and the Melbourne membership hub shows an error when I click on round 1. I haven't used the new system so have no idea if this is normal or I should start panicking because rnd 1 is only a week away.

May is down, one I should never have signed up, sorry guys and gals.

i got email from club the other day re "membership updates"

at the end is a list of barcodes for my 3 tickets

but....there are 5 barcodes

3 i recognise but the other 2 i don't and have a prefix of "Ad"

anyone else got similar or know what the extra 2 are for?

On another note, but same theme as the OP, I'm an interstate member in WA and the ticket allocation for Melbourne members at Optus is farcicly small, sells out in minutes. Also, my email from the club advising me of the ticket release came the day before they went on sale and my barcodes were missing! Not happy. Had to pay full price for my family's tickets.

Same situation for me too, leuc. I noticed a little while ago there were dry seats behind the cheer squad, so I might book my freebie there, and when the Dees are kicking that way, make myself comfortable. At least it won't be going to WCE.

... a little later ...

I now have 2 seats, one at each end of Optus. I think they call it a win-win!

The ticket and info is now in the mobile app.

Maybe check your app to see this appears for you.

I would say the G is now totally cashless but never know.

Totally cashless or totally clueless?

Its a free country. If i were back in Melbourne i would pay cash at the gate and keep walking.  Legally they cant stop you. Cash is legal tender. Doesnt matter what those corporate goons at AFL hq and ticketek say. They dont make the laws. Theyre thugs. They see the public as pesky cattle.  F, em.

well i can't remember when you were ever able to buy a ticket at the gate by any method

and being legal tender does not mean a free enterprise is obliged to accept it

having said that it is a right pain in the a@#% for kids buying food or drinks

Can you now just rock up & buy a ticket at the gate like you used to before covid?

Yes but not with cash...

I havent lived in Australia for years but why do you need a ticket if youre paying at the gate. Youre not going to the opera. Just pay and go sit down for ffs. The MCG will be more than half empty on Saturday. Bulldogs have a small following.

Since when have you ever not needed a ticket to scan or a card at the gate.??

I suspect you have not been to the G for a long time!!

Hi

Can I download my membership to my phone, save it and then use it for walk up entry as I would use a digital card.

Thanks

i can't see why photographing your card with the barcode wouldn't work. As long as photo is clear,

if that's what you meant

Curiosity question.  What ticket/barcode info (if any) appears in the mfc mobile app when there is a membership card?

Maybe some kind of mock ticket that only lasts for the game?

👍

In that case @Diamond_Jim doesn't need to download his membership.  He can just have the mobile app barcode info scanned.

If he or anyone needs more info instructions are on mfc's website:  https://membership.melbournefc.com.au/member-hub/mobile-ticketing

jim can cover all eventualities.

  • download app and use barcodes sent 72 hours before game
  • take a photo of his card showing barcode
  • keep his card in wallet

what do you mean by "download your membership"?

i'd suggest you ring club and ask them for a card

I am guessing the barcode will be different for every game on the app so I would say no you can't do that. Plus you can't screenshot your barcode either, when you do it comes up with a note stating that screenshots will not work to gain entry. I am curious as to how this can be the case unless it is scanning your phone at the same time but then how can a membership card work........ My brain hurts.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
